  1. These snippets from LWX make me hopeful for central MD! Some guidance indicates increased convergence between I-81 and I-95 amid increasing PWATs Saturday night, which could lead to localized higher rainfall totals. Sunday afternoon and evening. In addition, there is some potential for training of heavier showers and thunderstorms particularly east of the Blue Ridge towards I-95 where it looks like the best overlap of low-level convergence and higher PWATs will exist
  2. One heck of a rain shadow out there. I have a bit of a shadow with the ridge to my west but not like that area On that qpf -- please let the Euro be right for once!
  3. Another glorious day! Can't beat sunny and 75 at noon I do hope we get some extended rains early next week though -- I'll take the dreariness to get some water in the ground
  4. Those qpf maps look pretty and I am hoping! April's almost over and I have just 5.7 inches on the year -- parents in Calvert have 13.5
  5. Hoping to start planting soon, I checked my garden bed and it is hard as rock and dusty. I'm going to start sprinkling each day so I'm not working with concrete
  6. My P&C has a tenth to a quarter inch, so using the Central MD Rainfall Formula -- taking the low end of the range and divide in half -- I should get 0.05
  7. I know the drought is a big problem but man what a gorgeous day today and looking good tomorrow and Thursday. Sitting on the deck is so nice -- except for the light to moderate maple seed squalls lol Saw first hummingbird today
  8. Today turned into a beauty! Sunny and 73 with light breeze
  9. No choice for me - I watered even old, established shrubs as I've had just 0.64 for April, less than an inch for March, and a paltry 5.21 for the year. And no rain in sight any time soon
  10. Cloudy and 78, nice for sitting out. Cumberland sporting 88 now - too much!
  11. It's funny seeing Cumberland with the highest temp in the state at 84. Overcast and 72 here
  12. 6-10 day at 8-14 day forecasts look good on temps! Hoping we are done with frost/freeze so I can get stuff in the ground. Very dry of course - I expect to have to water all summer. I'll just water the flower beds and let the grass go
  13. Wow much nicer than I thought today! Partly sunny and 70. Bonus if we can score a thunderstorm this evening
  14. Wow! That's just 0.5 less than I have had since JAN 1 0.53 since April 1 and had less than 0.9 for March
  15. 0.30. Even my forecast of 0.5 earlier in the week was too high. My formula: take the lowest amount of the range in the official forecast and cut in half I am looking at another month of below an inch total (March was just 0.85). Oh but we excel at thick overcast, chilly and wind for days. Wife retires soon and I cannot WAIT to get out of this disgusting climate
  16. Looking at radar in central VA -- pivot?
  17. The really sucky part is we still endure days on end of depressing cloudy skies and chilly temps. No rain but no sun either. What an awful spring climate
  18. FIFY Hoping the rain shield expands NW later today. I predicted 0.5 a couple days ago when the goofy models were saying 1.5 plus for my area. I'd be happy with 0.5 at this point!
  19. My parents in Calvert have 11 inches precip on the year compared to 4.9 in Germantown. Their plants are happy while I'm having to water even established shrubs. Going to be a long, drought-stricken summer with expensive water bills with all the sprinkling
  20. Nice afternoon once we got to the low 50s. My hydrangeas had started leafing out and those new leaves are dead. Even my tough butterfly bushes look a little rough
  21. GFS has the right idea with the precip hole over central MD
  22. 28 near Germantown but 21 at Gaithersburg airport. It's an outlier but that airport is in a hole and can get way down there with no wind and radiational cooling. Reminds me of Tallahassee in winter where it would be 40 in town and 23 at the airport in a hole 8 miles away
  23. Got 0.25. Total for year is 4.79 while parents in northern Calvert at 10.43. They also blew my area out in snowfall total with 20-plus compared to 10
  24. Why does that sound so familiar LOL! Guess we turn towards the next drizzle fest later this week
