I guess you all didn’t get the rains like we did out this way? I am camping with my daughter’s Girl Scout troop, in town, and we got it while we were setting around 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Cooled the temps off perfectly and made tent camping palatable.

humidicious out.. we got 0.86 yesterday, unfortunately peak rate was 2.27 in/hr.. the new backflow valve we had installed last fall seems to seep a bit, resulting in an unplanned test of the home monitoring system (happened last saturday as well while we were on the road up from FL). Nothing major, just water in the basment shower pan.. Guess I'll be talking to the plumber next week.. damn ancient city sewer systems..

Some crazy thunder last night and some rain but I don't think there was a ton. Still didn't expect anything. Kevin nailed the humidity though which was miserable all day and all night and still lingers a bit this morning.

Some good flashes and thunder here at Pit2 last night around 7:30-8:30. Not sure how much rain we got then, but it was torrential.

or a heat burst from nearby thunderstorm? (I saw mention of storms in parts of region, wasn't following very closely today) ... those heat bursts usually happen towards end of a storm's life cycle though.

We are heading back to legendary winters in the Mid Atlantic. Great. Solar. Minimum. Little Ice Age reprise by 2030. I am gonna move to Panama. Or maybe even The Amazonian Basin. Plenty of food in the jungle, and nice warm year round. I love summer. I'd go chase river monsters like Jeremy Wade! Or swim with piranhas! Heard its a rush! I am so damned BORED, I'd probably experiment by stickin my FOOT in a small pool full of rapacious piranhas. Hey, I got lightning fast reflexes! I'd SCHOOL Neo in The Matrix of river monsters. Damn I am so fuckin BORED!

This is okay snow, but for REAL SNOW, like six foot megastorms, head for Mammoth Mountain. The Sierras dont play around.

.6" out of the storm around 4pm, came down real quick

We ended up taking a different route simply because I decided to follow whatever the gps told me to do. Went all interstate through NH to 95 and the Maine Turnpike. Probably not the best route but traffic wasn’t as bad as I feared. Ran into some hellacious storms in NH. Rain hard enough to almost bring traffic to a halt. Impressive lightning around exit 13 on 89 in NH. We got a room in Bangor for the night and drive the rest of the way to PQI tomorrow. The last 2 times I’ve gone up there the clouds have obscured Katahdin from the lookout. Probably strike 3 tomorrow.

Wonder how much the smoke filtering in enhanced the precipitation amounts in western areas. If I remember reading correctly a while ago, apparently smoke is an excellent source of ccn or cloud condensation nuclei so it may be helping to squeeze more precip from these downpours+t-storms today. Either way, the sky looked strange as hell today and those skeeters were all over me once the wind calmed down. Not a good day for a woodland stroll!

Time flies. Doesn't seem that long ago, and just a couple weeks until the solstice- then days get shorter as we head back towards winter.

It feels like this entire weekend will be a big bust for rain for me locally.

What made it unique was the cold that followed, and having snow otg for weeks.

Around 3:45 some lightning and thunder in Pikesville followed by 15 to 20 minutes of decently heavy rain. Enough to chase everybody off the golf course for 20 to 30 minutes. Then sun came out and beautiful evening.
