This 34° drizzle is pretty sweet.

Hoping for that front to pass a bit faster…get it through by Wednesday night please.

So have been waiting till my last day to post an observation of my week. Being inside and dealing with the gloom at least I am dry and warm. But I have been taking care of my friend’s horses all week. And as every person knows who takes care of animals on a farm this week was rough. On my final morning here is the conditions I have been working in since Monday. Have multiple times saved myself from whipping out. And have sunk in many times. My car is caked in mud and the smell of wet dirty horses will take sometime to get out of my clothes. I do though enjoy taking care of them. But a couple of days in between of some sun would have been better.

Forget it ... I've struggled almost in vein to articulate this sort of salience. Crickets. Doesn't get learned. And it can't Because of the whole dopa addict thing? blocks those neuro-pathways. I'm certain of it. It's no different than going into a Methadone clinic and instructing patients to not crave or scheme how to get heroin. The drug rewires the brain such that it no longer has any neurological pathways capable of learning how to stop - and that blocks any kind of expectation that doesn't include getting high. LOL ... somethin like that

In many parts of the HV the January storm was more memorable than the February. I received similar amounts in both 16.3 in January storm and 15.3 in the February. The January storm had snow fall the entire time with the temperature between 6 to 9° but with bad ratios considering the temperature due to the mid level warmup. As you stated the cold afterward, and just the snow pack, which to this day remnants still stands from that storm. I have a snowblower, but the effects from cleaning up from that storm had me tired for a week. Going out two or three times in those temperatures was tough on the body. I like to think I'm still in my 30s, but but it's times like that you realize you're aging.

Too bad we couldn't trend the trough a bit deeper next Friday, and have that shortwave go underneath us. Would be a nice little clipper /miller b potential
-
Hopefully an uber super mega nino next year. +3C would be okay but let’s shoot for +4C I want the subtropical jet into Canada
-
More wiggle room in the interior, but a little more tenuous out this way. Well, any case, I’m just hoping we pull something out before this month ends. March is a long month to have the culmination of an inch of snow to show for it.

The 5 day period from the 15th to the 20th is pretty good for mid March standards for the region on the EPS, GEFS & AI EPS. -

Yes, 0z models will be tougher for sure to stay up for with the time change, but if we get a legit threat in the short range, I’m sure that I’ll stay awake! -

Always fun to go back and play Monday morning QB with the SPC outlook from the day before. Shows that a lot of areas within the slight outlook were not impacted by severe, while other areas probably could have had higher probabilities. Shows how hard it is to forecast these events with so many variables in play.

Super Nino would obvioisly be warm but if it’s regular mod/strong, I’m not too concerned. We can rock in those. Those previous winters before last year were like Virginia climo. They aren’t normal.

Tracking season ends tonight unfortunately -
Idk, the cloud deck is looking stout. Hoping we get some clearing by mid afternoon at least.
-
That 2010 storm before Xmas was actually a retrograde job. Backed in from almost the E or ENE. Got us a white Xmas in ORH. Cape got croaked but we had something like 2” or so.
-
My worry is Nino gets strong and then probably a snap back from these cold winters. I know the last several have been warmer than normal…but the trend line is up. Just sucks.
-
I’d like it better if it was 15 degrees warmer lol
-
Maybe. Previous few winters prior to last year were pretty damned warm. Those aren’t normal…like at all. This one wasn’t normal either but the interior averages between 55-80 days of snow cover per season so my expectations aren’t snow and then immediately torching it away. The pack longevity was definitely way more anomalous on the coast and esp south shore/Cape, so I’ll grant that.
