  1. Past hour
  2. So then the NWS should put that for every forecast. You guys would blow your shit.
  3. Now to get political it’s so much better than I dunno a political figure head hypothetically drawing a sharpie on a weather map and inciting panic for no reason; of course, that would never happen.
  4. Would you rather he have said this was "one of the snowiest we've ever seen from the standpoint of snow"?
  5. There will probably be some sleet, but my hunch is it's not going to come through as a rapid and final changeover. There will be pinging on the window followed by hurried posts that it's over, with followup from the same posters an hour later that's its back to all snow, or two towns are getting snow and the town right between them is sleeting and then it reverses. Good chance it all ends with a bit more snow accumulation. It's not going to be a clean process north of I-78, unless it sleets all the way to Albany, which it won't. Side note, LMAO over the UKMET NYC precip hole. That's not going to happen.
  6. Only 'thought' I have on it is agreeing with you (and many others that DO have a degree in meteorology) that Euro has big issues with sleet vs freezing rain. I'm hoping for a lot more sleet vs freezing rain, for everyone.
  7. Sir, take this up with the mirror or God your choice. [emoji[emoji639][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]]]
  8. fortran has to be the single most underrated language of all time. It's the perfect mix of low-level enough to do resource management and easy enough to not require someone who is purely a software engineer. And I say this as someone who grew up with python, matlab and c++ lol
  9. I’m not here to talk politics but realistically that’s the better end of the spectrum for what a public figurehead can say forecast wise. It’s so infinitely better than saying we’re getting 18-24 based on a weather app.
  10. I agree about freezing rain. The EURO seems to have a problem with depicting sleet. The latest indicates .75 freezing rain for me and only .2" of sleet when the 925 thermals should produce sleet. The others are minimal with freezing rain but the EURO is bonkers. Any thoughts?
  11. It has actually adjusted steadily north with both primary and secondary lows for several cycles in a row. I see no reason why it won't continue to do so.
  12. This storm is like the inverse gradient of the predominate one the past few years, where the gradient increased just north of me.....now it's the other way around drops off north.
  13. This winter has the craziest clown maps ever
  14. Agreement on 10+ looks pretty solid at this point.
  15. Lol. Fair enough. I did not word that well. But I meant however many shovelfulls it takes. All I know is I have a lot of experience shoveling both fluffy, wet, and slushy and I'll take fluffy over wet and definitely over slushy, any day. It is just so much easier to scoop and handle. Maybe it's also just a natural tendency to load more weight of slush on the shovel, since it looks like so little.
  16. Oh yeah I don't buy it for a second lol but the Euro did have a similar setup, just looked like maybe a little too much separation to pull off the phase (wouldn't that be a slap in the face after this weekend's storm?). I think the 00z Euro last night had it too
  17. I don't know about this one. I get home tomorrow, but I'm thinking about heading to my brother's in Statesville Sat morning vs being home alone at my place for this one. He has a generator, we would all be together, etc. Statesville will get hit pretty rough as well, but my thought is to be with a generator and more people. I'd like to be home to experience it, but if I'd be out of power for days by myself, it could be a challenge.
  18. No PC or vac tubes, lol. It had been 'upgraded' a few times, but the original install was mid 70's, they got their money out of it.
  19. Think of how special the next one you see in person will be! Good things come to those who wait
