Best weather ever! The dream is one day move there. Would have to be more inland to keep it semi-affordable. I just absolutely love that area. Have fun!

July 2025 Obs/Disco ... possible historic month for heat

What’s crazy to me is they always seem to emerge from the exact same locations when you go by. It’s like they sit there in brush plotting and scheming how to ruin the next poor, unfortunate persons sweaty head that happens to walk by. Sometimes I really want to take a can of wd40 and a lighter and go to town on the bastards! -
65/59 in San Diego. Amazing.

Surprisingly picked up 1.21 earlier today... From a cell in western Albemarle that started back building to the northern edge of Waynesboro... Usually that will happen in the southern part of town along or south of 64 with nothing up here...

I get all that, but radar was a lot of nothing today.

July 2025 Discussion-OBS - seasonable summer variability

better get some rain tomorrow. -
The 1st Rule of Inevitable Desertification is: Rain Delayed, is RAIN DENIED. And, Never forget Lucy, especially in the low sun period when jonesing for snow. This almost never fails. Today's Application: We waited excitedly all night for all that rain. It was DELAYED. It weakened, fell apart then sped up like an F-35 fighter. The rain was delayed then was DENIED to Buda. I stayed up all night waiting for it. DAMN! NEXT UP is a strong subtropical ridge building over Texas. Now comes one of the hottest summers ever! The record books will have to be rewritten because of hundreds of temperature records falling right through Thanksgiving, accompanied by almost no rain.

Nice thunder again about 20 mins ago. Rain has been pretty light though.

I won't speak for other places but the combination of humidity and lack of air movement in these parts is the absolute worst. Buggy. Food molding. Wet. Horrendous. -

I want to try those fake dragonflies on a wire and tape them to my hat and around our swimming pool. Supposedly they deter the fuckers. -

Breslow will get help. -
If you get under one of these cells, it's intense. I received 0.64" of rain in 15 min from a cell today. Also, some of the mesonet soil moisture probes are showing fully saturated soils. For example, our flood sensor on Cabin John Branch at Bradley Blvd showed a 5 foot rise in 40 minutes on Saturday. If that storm over Potomac persisted for another 20 to 30 minutes it would have been real trouble. This absolutely justifies the flood watches, IMO.
