Hot start:

28 Aprils here, one (2009) had nary a trace and 2 others had only traces. At the other end, April 2007 had 37.2" - even Fort Kent never had that much. Average is 5". At Gardiner, 13 Aprils included one (1991) with zippo and another with but a trace, average 5.4". Fort Kent April average was 11" and all 3 Aprils at BGR had measurable snow. In fact, both 73-74 and 74-75 had their biggest snowfalls in April, with the 12.0" storm of 4/3-5/75 being the biggest of our BGR winters and the April average was 9". Maine totals for 54 years: 2 without a trace, 4 with only traces, 48 with measurable, average 6.2". Snow staying south so far. GYX says the CF passage with whiten things later today.

Probably somewhere in-between, although there's not a lot of analogs for a strong summer El Nino

Great shot MN. Zermatt is my old stomping grounds. My family had an exchange student from down in the Rhone Valley near Brig who worked in the Wega souvenir shop near the train station in Zermatt. She's like another sister to me and we've kept in touch for 45+ years. Through her family and friends in Switzerland I was very fortunate to get indoctrinated into the Swiss culture. Her dad used to drove the cog train from Brig/Visp up to Zermatt (part of the famous Glacier Express train route). First skied the glacier near the Klein Matterhorn in 81 during my first trip to Europe with my parents. Then a few years later lived in Germany for the first of 2 stints there. Skied Zermatt about 20 times, plus Sass Fe, Verbier, Crans Montana, and many other resorts in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and France. Did a fair bit of back-country in the Alps too - I used to only telemark ski but doubt my knees could take it now. If you had enough snow to ski from the top of the Klein Matterhorn all the way into town, that's about 8500 vertical feet in one run. About the only other place on earth that will match that much vertical in one run is in Chamonix. Did you have a chance to take the run down the other side into Italy? The run from Plateau Rosa down to Cervina is an awesome run.

I would recommend using Tropical tidbits with the NAM model selected. Of course, you could also change models to some other ones to help as well.

Probably can't rule out some snow showers just behind the front but the front is looking pretty weak and not much in the way of colder air with that. This may very well be the final snow for just about everyone except up north.

I know. I was being somewhat facetious, trying to lighten my own mood. I've not been feeling well the past couple months, both physically and mentally. I'm actually at the docs right now, hoping he'll set up a barrage of testing, from imaging, to blood, to a cancer screen, to see why I'm in the current state I'm in.
