  1. Past hour
  2. High of 98, highest of the year for me.
  3. Heat index topped out at 110 here in Philly today... now 91 with a tropical dew point of 76.
  4. That wind and heat dried things out pretty well in the afternoon relatively from that early morning due of 77°
  5. I was in Chicago during a heat wave. If you thought New York was bad oh my God. We went to Wrigley Field, and they literally turned hoses on us in the stands. Land locked and hot not good
  6. Today's Highs EWR: 99 New Brnswck: 98 BLM: 97 PHL: 97 TEB: 96 TTN: 95 ACY: 93 NYC: 93 LGA: 93 JFK: 87 ISP: 84
  7. Hey all... long time lurker, but decided to take the plunge and create an account. I live in Philadelphia, am a Psychology and History teacher for Philly public schools (just finished my 29th year)... I more or less look at the Philly forum, the NYC forum, and yours... the people in Philly do not post nearly as much as those in the NYC and New England forums do... in any event, I have learned a lot by reading your posts (Typhoon Tip, I have always found yours very informative) and hope to learn more. The weather has always interested me since I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin... between the severe weather we experienced in the spring/summer and the snowstorms we had (especially when I was a kid in the 1970's)... I think these things were the "spark" so to speak. "Anywho"... hope everyone stays cool... was 97 here today with peak HI of 110. Definitely NOT looking forward to the 105 forecasted for tomorrow, the 103 for Friday and the 101 for the 4th. The heat, the concrete... Oy, it's stifling!
  8. I hit 100 today, the DP was 86.4 Was an insider most of the day. When your 70 not to many outdoor activities you want to do in 100 degree weather. I was looking at the record highs and a lot of them was set in 1931.
  9. Sure. Snowman didn't say that though. He said regardless of strength.
  10. and we didn't drop below 100/99 until 7:20pm...
  11. Yesterday
  12. The SPC put out a meso discussion this afternoon for southeast Iowa into northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, which included an 80% chance of a watch, which seemed odd. They were focusing on a band of cumulus through this area. However, the area is capped and no models have been predicting anything around here, only northern and western Iowa tonight. Nothing ever developed and the cumulus faded away.
  13. Looks like 97 was the high here in Philly today; the humidity really took your breath away, stifling... lots of plan changes for the 250th celebrations this Friday/Saturday due to the heat. Some things moved indoors, and many events moved to around 8pm.
  14. Holy shit. Intense straightline winds. Wow. Branches down. Still have power though. That was whiteout straight-line wind damage that fanned out on the east slope and into the valley.
  15. So Wiz. Check out that New York activity? That’s right where the NAM had that. Convective initialization ftw
  16. Some big wind coming your way… probably right on the county line at Lawn Rangers and that area on the high spot of RT 100. Just came over the spine and accelerated ESE.
