  1. Past hour
  2. I agree with the eagle comments. Here’s one that I saw locally.
  3. Ending up with around 2" in NE Monmouth Co. Was disappointed last night that we missed the incoming heavier snow uo front, but the lingering light snow this morning made for a pleasant, wintery scene. An enjoyable event!
  4. Osprey too. Read a nonfiction book this year written in the 70s and the author was wondering if they would go extinct soon given how rapidly their population had declined in his lifetime.
  5. All other spots around them got just about 4” of snow. Would make sense that they did as well.
  6. 1.1” here in Charlotte, VT. 1” would not be enough to cover the monstrous mounds of turkey crap my wife’s turkeys plop all over the yard whenever they drop a load. The anatomical physics are hard to explain there.
  7. Man of many talents. Nice pictures as always ! !
  8. Anyone know WHY they moved the all the weather sensors from the castle to a thicket? Just don't understand why they would have moved them and screwed up a VERY long period of record. Makes no sense.
  9. Just worried with all the unhinged lunatics complaining about the Park's snowfall measurements, we won't start seeing them inflate the measurement to appease these people.
  10. Guess they will have to look at sat images/radar data to see if there was any convection going on at the time. There can be a fine line between hail or sleet sometimes. The whiteness of the graupel could easily be partially melted snow that refreezes. Most sleet I've seen is mostly clear, tho, so more data would be needed to make that call. It can be an easy mistake this time year.
  11. I am comparing it to the old days when we would more extended snowcover with not so many warm ups with rain in between.
  12. Has anyone audited the Central Park measurement for this storm? Wondering if they really had 4.3 inches. This commenter claims she measured 1.8 to 2.8 just west of the Park.
  13. Eh. The last storm had the snow stick around for 3-4 days. That’s not so much a quick warm up
  14. I echo this sentiment. Lots of good analysis in here.
  15. With our 0.8" of sleet and ice yesterday our December snow total is now at 11.2" this is the 5th most in December in the 23 years I have been at this location. Temperatures today will struggle to get to freezing so be careful out there. We warm to near 40 degrees tomorrow and then turn unseasonably warm on Monday with highs into the middle 50's. To go along with the warmer temperatures rain will arrive tomorrow night and last into Monday. The cold returns by Monday night and we will end the days leading into the New Year with well below normal temperatures.
  16. This has to be one of the most unusual December patterns that we have ever seen. The record low Arctic sea ice near the Kara and Barents seas has been linked to stratospheric warming events. 2025 marks one of the earliest SSWs on record. It’s also possible that this is our first December with two distinct 4-8” clipper snow events. Plus I am not even sure when the last time was that there were two 4-8” clipper events only two weeks apart during December to March. So I am not really sure yet what if anything this December will say about the rest of the winter. Since we have never had a December pattern like this before. Also note how each of the clipper events is being followed by a strong Great Lakes cutter with rain and a quick warm up.
  17. I guess we're all always in search of the elusive KU / NESDIS Cat. 5 snowstorm ! Gotta believe.

  19. 30 degrees here as well. This was one of the tougher ones to shovel. This stuff wasn't concrete. It was solid granite.
  20. Webb is worried about suppression. Hopefully this doesnt happen and we all get a nice size storm.
  21. Legit ice / sleet accumulations 1.4” of sleet accumulations 8.8” of snow / sleet for the year 30f dew point 26 slow melting
  22. Congrats! Solid storm for you out there.
  23. 33 degrees…That sleet blew pretty good with my blower, best blow of the season! Didn’t get the initial bottom coat of ice, but it will melt. I have 300’ of driveway.
