Central PA Spring 2026 Discussion/Obs Thread
TheDreamTraveler replied to Voyager's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
As long as I've got a water source and good AC then I like really hot days like this. Unless I have to be stuck outside in it all day with no way to cool off then it's too much. Probably nostalgia growing up as a kid for me in the 90s and 2000's since my parents had a pool and AC always going in the summer which was really relaxing once you got inside after baking in the heat -

This has actually been adjusted significantly higher with QPF over the past 24 hours...let's see if it holds: -
97F at RDU for the 4pm ob. I am already over this shit. That also sets the new record for all time earliest heat to this magnitude.
-
Storms starting to popalop. I'm in Tip's town RN and it's starting to look ominous.
-
BDL and MHT have records too
-
91.2 in Muttontown & 90.3 in Syosset for the high today.
-
96 thus far..wind kicking up
-
BOS may have tied the all time May record high of 97°
-
I think one day so far it's cracked above 70 on the barrier islands. Huge disparity when the waters are still in the mid 50s and barely any westerly component on the winds. There haven't been crazy Ambrose Jets so up here it's gotten close to 90 but by 5-6pm it cools down quite a bit.

Gimme dat. .

Family bbq at MIL house on Saturday at 1 PM. Pool, BBQ, outdoor games. I'd take 65 and mostly cloudy/ party sunny and run. The pool will be confined to the kids. At least they have a warm water connection for outside for the pool. .
-
SPC is a little out of touch.. too much model riding and not enough outside observations. I didn't even realize that we are under a MRGL risk for severe storms today.
-
It is almost certainly higher than 92 in almost the entire borough of Manhattan except for the KNYC weather sensor.
-
Agree those 95-98 degree days just to hot. It did go well into the 80s here but now down to 82. A warm day here but not uncomfortably hot.
-
Has this been discussed in the past ? I can't recall.

2026-2027 Strong/Super El Nino

Yeah Dec ‘97 vs. ‘15 were night and day especially for the high elevations of NE. There is a difference between mild pacific air from a jet extension and mild pacific air from a jet extension + subtropical Gulf flow from the SE ridge. The former (‘97) is serviceable. -
Hit 96 here.

There are just a handful of days each year where I am happy, for weather reasons, to be on south shore of Long Island. Today is one of those days. Thanks to the LIRR strike today I was home. I haven't been paying much attention to the weather lately and so was floored to hear that Jersey is in the mid 90s. Here I wouldn't even call today warm. It's just perfect out. Not sure I've ever been aware (though I'm sure it's of course happened) of such a disparity in the past where it was so nice here yet *95* on the other side of NYC. Crazy.
-
Yeah. I saw that 97. Sweet for the middle of the harbor. Winds make all the difference. It was upper 60s there yesterday
-
95 on my porch thermometer. Shaded but not a great unit. my car thermo was reading 100-102 as I was going past KFIT so 95-97 seems likely there.

Understood FP but it’s probably more the shade environment than the physical location. Your site was 94 perhaps we should have a five individual borough readings with the city reading as the average of the five. It’s a shame I can’t give myself a weenie ….. I’ve no doubt someone will accommodate. Stay cool everyone, as always ….
