  1. Past hour
  2. We can't even do shit the blinds patterns properly anymore
  3. 12z GFS shows the ugly potential going into the 24th/25th
  4. I'm saying this season all the models have struggled mightily. All the models have been having a hard time this season. Sure we will see a reshuffle and that will be a good thing I think.
  5. Low of 15 Minimum wind chill of 0. Currently 24 Doubt I exceed 27
  6. Yup, once again it sets us up with cold from the passage of the lakes low and sneaks in some precip to take advantage shortly thereafter. This really looks like our only long shot chance at a white Christmas if we steal the event itself and hold off enough heat so… may as well track!
  7. As soon as the microchip was invented, there was always going to be AI in the future.
  8. The EPS has been the GEFS daddy for as long as we can remember and you know this
  9. I REALLY miss you posting more. I also totally get it why you don't. I think about you every time I don't see/hear from you after several days. You're really good people, Jon.
  10. Wow. That has be near record early for that much ice on 12/15. We have an excellent snowpack out there... too bad it turns warm later this week.
  11. Looks like their son killed them. Merry Christmas Mom and Dad.... Stab stab stab stab.
  12. We've seen pattern changes happen abruptly and to say that nothing looks muted is inconsistent with what the models have been going towards the past 24 hours.
  13. I'll be completely honest - I've learned to recognize that a lot of my issues with people in the past were self-inflicted. I've done a whole of soul-searching over the past year or two and admittedly have been working with a counselor to help me understand some things a little better. I think it's human nature at times to instinctively point in other directions when problems arise but after I learned how to think about myself and what affect I have on others, it can be honestly very humbling. I'd like to think that my posts have improved in 2025. I recognize that I have my own issues and I've been working through and addressing them. It also has to do with understanding that we're all different and that translates into every aspect of life, including posting "styles". And just because yours might be different...that's more than okay.
  14. The EPS has been just as inconsistent as the gfs has been.
  15. yeah I don't think i've ever seen that. Growing up in VA, I went to city schools but was in governor's school in HS for half the day, which was subject to the surrounding county schedule (and Augusta county has some folks living upwards of 4,000' as some folks on here can attest). So many times school would be delayed or cancelled when we would be fine. I don't ever remember them closing only some schools.
  16. I have been perusing data again and was looking at the most snowy 5 year periods for the foothills from the last 75 years. Most Snowy- 1960-1965- 70-80 inches of snow. Winter of 1960 had around 30-40 inches alone (most of it coming in Feb and March). 1968-1973. 70-80 inches of snow. Winter of 1968/69 was the snowiest on record for a lot of our region. 35-45 inches of snow fell that winter alone. 1943-1948- 65-75 inches of snow. Around 15 inches each season. 2014-2019- 60-70 inches of snow. Big storms in 2016 and 2018 helped this period make the list.
  17. 16.7F here - same. Kinda bottomed out around 9-10pm and then it stopped dropping.
  18. EWR and JFK are much more aligned with local observations. There is only one observation near central park for 3.1 and that's from a local. A local weather station measured 3 in the park at 8AM yesterday while it was snowing moderately and did so for three more hours. If this was a one time thing you let it go and say who cares, it was probably 3.5 - 4 so they made a mistake, but it happens all the time. It's not like Central Park has a history of accurate snowfall measurements. As you probably know the Central Park Zookeeper kept the snow measurements from 1992 until 2014. That period was terrible for measurements. Most famous were the under measurement during the January 1996 and Boxing Day blizzards of 2010. Both were anywhere from 4-6 inches short looking at all reputable local measurements. Things improved with the Conservancy from about 2015-2018 but started to go downhill again around 2019 or 2020. If it was once in a while you let it go. When it's fairly constant you have to wonder what is going on. Just from yesterday look at the LE from the local stations around CP and you have to figure somebody's off. Temperatures were marginal at all of the stations so it's questionable whether that's the reason. NYC .51 inches 2.9 snow JFK .53 inches 4.6 snow EWR .52 inches 4.1 Snow LGA .53 inches 2.6 snow
  19. Heckin' wimdy out there today. Low roar in the treetops and cold as a muthafukka. And finally after all this cold we have full coverage in New England. Wintah!
  20. Was outside last night want to say it was around 9:00 or so and it was very peaceful just looking around and seeing everything covered in snow with Christmas lights...for some reason, this scenery makes it so you don't even feel the cold. All it takes is a couple inches of snow to totally change the mood.
