Summer 2025 Medium/Long Range Discussion
TheNiño replied to Chicago Storm's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
Looks like some changes coming, which I’m happy about. I like the Midwest for the frequently changing weather patterns. Anything to end my boredom at this point. It’s been absolutely perfect and gorgeous weather and yet somehow I’m still unsatisfied. I did not choose to be this way. -

Yea I dont get wearing hoodies when the sun is still this strong and the daytime temps are in the 70s. Hoodies are a mid to late october thing -
At a glance that’s looking like 2013-2014 for the record … the sfc wind stressing associated with larger atmospheric circulation mode sets this in motion/emergence. The SSTs aren’t driving the winter pattern tendency - it’s an indicator for governing circulation biases; whatever causes the one is causing the other

45F here. You’re well on pace for a thick frost. I like to use the mid-afternoon dew points as a gage of the air mass… it was 40-41F here and 37-38F at HIE. Mid-30s will be easy there, possibly freezing, as it often radiates a tick below the well-mixed dew minimum.

Looks like a 2.08 three-day total from the last events here at a nearby PWS. Total since June 1st is 13.12. Not quite DIT's 17.3, but I'll take it. Hopefully those in the drought-stricken areas get some good soaking rainfall after this upcoming dry pattern.

I’m prepared! Plants are all in. Just hit 40

Black locust?

Cut it into rounds and load it on a trailer pulled by an ATV. Something that size I have to axe up to get it on the trailer.

Never gets old not watch! Then what happens? Do you have a skidder to haul out? Do you cut on site then load em' up? then use a chipper for the small stuff?

2025-2026 Fall/Winter Mountain Thread

I had a low of 47 this morning and a high of 69. What a beautiful day in our Valley! We have an active Red Fox working in our little neighborhood. This time of year always brings excitement! -
I doubt a dead ratter... and you shouldn't be calling winter over in early September. Models can't predict things three weeks out, why should it do something different three months out?
-
Even with the early September sun, GSO only could muster a high of 73 today. Impressive.
-
Beautiful upper 60s here today. Managed to get into the deep jungle. Cool enough to wear a jacket first thing this morning.

Had a high of 69 today with a corrected low of 45. Thought it got down to 44 but I didn't. Current temp is 57 and dropping. The next 10 days look fantastic.
-
We’re pretty good at clouds here. Not as good as the upper Midwest and northeast, but pretty good. Whenever we get into these high pressure dominant patterns, I try to soak it up...especially in the winter.
-
A truly stunning amount of sunshine today. Majestic level weather.
-
52F at 7:30pm and plummeting after a high of 68F. Can we get 30s tonight? Does Alex’s growing season end?
-
Smoke should return this weekend and next week. Tons of fires and smoke headed SE from W CA
