Drove through a few squalls / snow showers in SWPA on the way to our friend’s house in Ohio. Nice scenic view driving thru the mountains with snow falling

This! The height was only 5 minutes, but legit heaviest snow of the season I witnessed! Couldn't see my neighbors house! That New Years Eve squall had lightening, so gotta give it a slight edge, but this one was pure insanity. Winds have completely filled in any evidence of foot prints in the yard. -

I like the late ticks west...little margin for error when it inevitably slides east. Everything shifted west tonight...even GFS. -
Looks like arctic front just coming out of West Virginia. Hopefully by 12-1 we will see it start up
-
I only care if it’s gonna make it. Is it gonna make it? Do I set an alarm?
-
Any guesses on how far east the squall is going to get?
-
Definitely going to be watching the Wisp cams (https://www.wispresort.com/mountain-report-cams/) as that squall moves in from the NW... should be pretty epic This is also one I like to watch up in the DCL area: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cfGy_FAYhk

Totally awesome. I was the only one out in my neighborhood. Was videoing with no glove on and fingers started to really hurt. Thawed them out. -
It's coming down really good now

Very underwhelming here so far- hopefully we see it pick up soon but currently on 29.7 with a dusting from the first round. Very little precip since then, even the Beech Mt cams look like not much going on besides some clouds. -

I’ll take my .2..nice little touch up to the pack. Congratulations out east. -
Weenies gonna weenie - a lot are just here for the snow. Agree this is pretty rare for our area, we got about an inch of fresh powder on top of the snowcrete - super cold temps - deep winter around here, plus some interesting dynamics to watch tonight. Really can't ask for better. It will be like Antarctica for a few hours.

So you're the guy I passed running there recently that looked like Clark Kent. That was an intense band. I'd bet there for a bit it was at least 3" per Hour Rate.

1.6” out of the squall at NWS. i think they are at 2.7” for day, for those losing sleep over whether Shafer Road got 1” or 3” out of this. -

Prob because we are unlikely to see anything but cold wind... which we do really well here. But I'm with you it is fascinating. You think there's any chance we see a squall from the frontal passage E of the BR?
-
Anyone watch that gut from Connor's Climate Corner? He is mentioning that our area has a very good chance of Snow next weekend. He also He's saying the warm-up is brief for next week and sees other snow chances besides Valentines weekend
-
Temp down to 31 with light snow starting.

The upstream radar already looks fairly healthy and would support a widespread 2-4" foundation with the possible local augmented values already discussed. It appears to be a steady light snow all over upstate NY and Vermont already.
