I’m at an even foot here in garden city south. Had 10 inches of snow and at least 2 inches of sleet since 230pm when in flipped. Very hard to measure as I’m sure some compacted but 12 inches in Nassau south of the LIE is a win

This was a fun one to track and a good winter storm.

A really good explanation here about a PNA feature that ended up telegraphic what eventually happened:
-
Seems like we all got very similar amounts which is pretty cool...no forum divider...well except for bncho im pretty sure he has jackpot every storm since he was born last year
-
you surprised? I think i predicted 7.1" yesterday when things were looking good for 8"+. They measure on a small strip of grass right in front of Terminal A and they have a history of not really caring. They probably just stuck a ruler in the ground. They didn't get only 1.5" of sleet. Plenty of 8"+ reports nearby
-
Yeah this airmass is anomalous to say the least!
-
Thanks. Funny enough, I just measured 7" of thick, compacted goodness (my 6.5" was a guesstimate). Wild.
-
12” at Islip, even 11” at Oceanside right on the south shore. Definitely a high end event for LI even without it being all snow.

This is a really tough storm to measure. I got 1.75" of clean snow before the flip. I'm confident there. I cleared an area for sleet accumulation but it was too close to my house and my roof deposited extra sleet. I definitely didn't get 4.2" of sleet and everhwere else was compacted to around 3.5" total. Total qpf for the storm is around 1.4" (models were too juicy in my yard) so I got around 1.2" qpf as sleet. I'm just going to call it 2.5" of sleet and go 4.25" for the event. A bit less than I had hoped but super memorable storm. Winter wonderland out there for sure.

Glad I came back to the board this year and got to enjoy this with Yinz .. -
With this cold and no transitioning low, why not?
-
Poughkeepsie with 8 consecutive heavy snow obs and counting. The preceding 3 were moderate snow with 2 at 0.25mi vis. I've never seen that before... even in 1993 and 1996.
-
How they roll I guess. Assuming they just stuck a ruler in the ground close to the river.
-
final here 8.5". awesome storm. more memorable than most 8-10" events.
