I would take that with a slightly more relaxed RNA and much colder SSTs. -
The RRFS A and RGEM are a good hit up this way.

I remember several years in a row in the 80s when the first week of March saw snow that got us out of school. I can't imagine that happening anymore. Heck, I remember in about 1977(?) when my grandparents were visiting us for Easter and my father woke them up playing Jingle Bells on the stereo because in the first week of April a storm dumped about 6 inches of snow on Floyd, VA. Sad trombone. Climate change. Eat at Arby's.

It was in my top 5 snow toal events in my life... but so few got to enjoy it and it was gone quickly

Cold air isn't going to be a problem. We'll get a little thaw then back to Cold. This spring isn't going to be pretty.

2025-2026 ENSO
so_whats_happening replied to 40/70 Benchmark's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
Honestly we haven't really needed much influence from the strat this year other than it maintaining at or below average in strength most of the season. i'd rather have the 500mb take the lead but it would have been nice to lock it in with an actual split. I will not be looking forward to a below average March and April if one were to occur this late in the season. -

Maybe I'll be wrong this time, but I will defer to my seasonal research until it's obvious that it isn't going to work. It hasn't led me astray yet this season, with the exception of the latter January NAO blocking. -

I think people forget how warm March has gotten around here. It almost never snows outside the mountains in March these days. And on the uncommon occasions it does, it melts in a day or two. I think we need winter to deliver in February, preferably the first half. Technically it can snow right into April, but climate norms and sun angle get hostile to the winter vibe really fast after mid-Feb. near the coast at 40 degrees north.

I saw that yesterday on the Euro site weeklies page and was wondering why no one had mentioned it. I've taken enough shade this winter, so I figured somebody would bring it up. Lol
