Thanks Don! Enjoy your vacation. -
WB Joe D'Aleo has a recent post which talks about the warm water currently east of Japan due to underwater volcanic activity. States IF this were to move into the NE Pacific could have big influence on the winter forecast.....Colder and stormier for us. I guess this gives us a little hope for the upcoming winter.

Impressive professional quality phone shot! -
If you asked a random yinzer if July has been rainy, they’d say yes. But the airport’s precip deficit for the month will surpass an inch tomorrow.

That's a sweet shot!! -
You must have good soil. I don’t water my grass and it’s 90% brown. I am watering the two young trees I have in front so I have some green surrounding them.
-
Upper 50s looking likely tonight. Brief cooldown with heat returning on Wednesday. 8” of Reddit rain nowhere to be found.
-
Channel 4 says 91 Wed, 94 Thurs, and 93 Fri. I haven't seen anywhere else go that high. Is that realistic?

One of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken… -
Similar here. 0.2” of mostly light rain. The heavier rains hit downtown and areas northwest but missed the east side. Interestingly there was a weak tornado in Allendale and that area and north got a needed soaking as well.
-
Looks like both the high and low temperatures today at PIT are going to come in below normal. The last time that happened was June 2nd.

You misunderstood what I meant. I meant a national ranking/average has nothing to do with individual locations- each locations actual weather/ranking is their own and what they experienced/felt, not a rounded national number of all stations. The way you imply it its like saying someone in Miami must've frozen with their average winter temp at 34.07°. And international falls must've felt like perma spring at 34.07°. I dont know what dense ranking sorting is but NYC 34.8° ranks 60th warmest in their threaded record, not 37th. - Today

Yeah, I like those too. I have an ambient which I like and has been good to me for 5 years now. I just hate having to choose between getting better accuracy for wind vs temp with where you need to mount them. I went with wind since mounted wireless anemometers are more $$ than wireless thermometers.

Those Tempest stations are impressive units - and not requiring power and no moving parts is a big bonus. I've debating getting one but don't really know where I'd put it so it's not just baking in full sun all the time.
