Savannah saw the temperature dip to 28° this morning. That broke the daily record of 31° from 1968. It is also the coldest temperature so early in the season since November 9, 1976 when the mercury fell to 26°.

Roads are treacherous. Ice under coating of snow. Numerous accidents on rt 23 in Stockholm and Jefferson. Also one on Canistear rd 1 block from my house. Sitting in dead stop traffic on 23 in front of old Jorgensen's restaurant. Road crews really dropped the ball on this little event.

I use the term luck in a less formal sense. Since the Pacific has been so overpowering over the last 7 seasons. Agree with you that if we actually do get a benchmark storm that it will be because of a change at least briefly in the pattern and not luck. While snowfall forecasts are challenging, we know what to expect if we continue with the Great Lakes cutter, I-78 to I-84 hugger, and suppressed Southern Stream over the last 7 years. So I am hoping that we can at least change up the storm track briefly for a finish closer to average snowfall this year.

17 and near 3.5 inches measured. The wind howled here during the night, so the driveway is blown almost clean except for a sheet of ice.
