I believe any transition to structurally lower snowfall at Detroit is at least several decades away. 35° or above winter warmth will likely remain very uncommon for at least the next 20 or more years.

Under bright sunshine, much of the region saw temperatures soar into the 80s. Areas immediately on the coastline were a bit cooler. Highs will generally reach the upper 70s to lower 80s. A few of the warmest spots will reach the middle and perhaps upper 80s. The warm weather will continue through early next week. Another strong cold front will likely cross the region around midweek. The frontal passage will likely bring some showers or thundershowers. A shot of much cooler air will follow. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was -0.1°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was -0.5°C for the week centered around September 24. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged -0.12°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged -0.42°C. La Niña conditions will likely develop during mid- or late-autumn. The SOI was +4.64 today. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +1.096 today.

JB is not exactly someone id cite for reference on anything, but he IS right. In fact when an enso pattern is firmly in place, a good rule of thumb (at least in the Lakes) is nino means cold October and mild winter, while nina means warm October colder winter.

should have been out there yesterday...got our butts kicked most of the day on winds that were clearly more than forecast. never let up. we could not fish effectively in the wind and anchoring did not help. we're not making that run again, and are heading down the jersey shore next trip for sea bass, which you can keep at a reasonable size there.

Detroit has only had 3 winters in recorded history reach 35.0°+. All long ago (1881-82, 1931-32, & 1889-90) and all well below avg snowfall. So im not surprised.

well you aren't going to get rid of stupid people...as we used to say in the mental health field, people have a right to be stupid.....so with that out of the way, what other steps should be taken.....

Looks like maybe a quarter to a half inch of rain with the mid week cold front followed by more glorious early Fall weather late next week with high temps in the mid to upper 60s.

I would absolutely load my kid up with questions if she was attending. Alas, she’s not an 8th grader

That 45° range is usually found in late April and May, very uncommon when sunrise and sunset are less than 12 hours apart. We had 71/31; greatest October range here is just 1° greater.
