Ha that’s wild. It’s a four star resort now lol. Hoping to put the phone down for a few days and relax a bit. I love coastal New England in the summer time. It’s similar to the east end of the island, the air has that different feel -

We have quite a bit of family history at Newport. If you visit the Mansions, my great grandfather was the coachman for the Kings at Kingscote for about a decade. He had the same name as me. -

Goat island, wow that brings back memories for me. Stayed there 30-35 years ago with the family, when I was a teenager. The pool water was pumped in from the ocean as I recall and it was in the upper 50s. Myself and my stepdad were the only ones that swam in it. Enjoy your trip! -

55/50 under clear skies. I like a quick cool down before the heat builds back in. Still 8 weeks of potential deep summer to go. -
^He's talking about a +PDO, which is about the least-likely thing to happen on the planet right now. If the Winters cold, it won't be because N. Pacific SSTs are the driver. His analogs come out to a +1.5 Winter PDO average. We've never seen anything close to that jump before.. last year it almost neutralized from record levels in the Fall, but that might be the biggest jump on record, and H5 was leading.

I've been in Stratton, VT, since Saturday. Already pleasant air mass got displaced yesterday evening by an even better one, complete with a nice line of storms. It was a breezy 66F day at the resort and at the top of Stratton Mountain (3,875') it may have been in the upper 50s. It was chilly in the shade with that wind. Fleece and sweatshirt weather tonight. Steam is rising from the hot tubs. It's weather we'd be luck to get in mid-october. Simply incredible to experience in mid-july.

You do the mansions? The Breakers is amazing and then you can do the cliff walk. Then check Ocean Ave and see if Kit's Kites is still there by Brenton Park. The kites are a little pricey but they are big and look great flying them there with the strong breeze.
