I think most of this from Chris Martz yesterday is at least worthy of discussion/debate. Opinions? The avalanche (and by extension, flood) in Nepal last week was triggered by the collapse of bedrock beneath the Yala Glacier, not the glacier partially collapsing itself. Global warming doesn’t cause bedrock to buckle. It was likely geological in origin caused by seismic activity in recent years and months causing fractures in the rock. The Himalaya are highly active due to plate tectonics moving India into the Asian continent. And the “melting permafrost” argument doesn’t hold much water either because temperatures have generally been below freezing, even during summer, where the glacier sits ~17,000 feet (5,200 meters) up. You aren’t going to see a lot of days get above 0°C (32°F). Not every environmental disaster that happens needs to be blamed on humans. Nature itself is more than capable of causing these types of events. It’s time to get rid of the mentality that mankind is the cause of every bad thing that happens.

2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season
WxWatcher007 replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Tropical Headquarters
Going to be nearly impossible to get anything that tries to spin up in the eastern tropical Atlantic to make it far. Just an incredible ribbon of shear across the MDR. It’s extraordinary how hostile the basin is. -

Certainly going to start feeling more like Fall. Really sucks we could not tap into any of the heat/higher humidity. -

I've asked around since June and first the niño precip change was supposed to be later in the summer, then it was September, then it was October, now it's late October if we're lucky. It just keeps getting can kicked.

thunder has reached the BWI area, so much for the mid 90s that Accuweather had us for today
-
Yeah. Orange and reds on radar looked to be only like 5 miles away from me, but I fell asleep and I guess the radar fell apart, haha.
-
Come on…just a little farther. You can do it…
-
I wonder why our area kills everything that enters it. It's plenty humid. We just suck lol
-
The late afternoon rain overstabilized everything.
-
That line looked much more potent when it was in PA... no more reds left in it... really fizzling out.
- Today

Sounds nice. But noticing that split going on heading right my way. That is on par.

ehhh not so sure about that. Both days are going to have some showers around and destructive sunshine with cold pool moving in aloft, especially on Sunday.
