July 2025 Discussion-OBS - seasonable summer variability

I buy stocks in companies I use a lot to sort of pay myself back. Its never enough to cover what I spend, so the dividends are like a small rebate. But its something. We can choose who our energy suppliers are, but not the transmission part, and thats where we get hosed. -

71 / 69 cloudy. Clouds today break the heatwave keeping it in 80s / 70s. Clouds linger into Friday with front slow as molasses clearing the coast and the W. Atlantic Ridge anchored off shore. The weekend looks to be mainly dry with warm/humid mainly 80s with some of the hotter and sunnieest locations maybe touching 90 on Sat, but very limited. Hotter by Tue/Wed next week / mid month. Overall higher heights routinely expanding W/ Atlantic Ridge and western heat flowing / expanding and building north and east. 7/10 - 7/11 : Storms / clouds cooler 7/12 - 7/14 : Warm/humid limited 90s 7/15 - beyond : Hotter overall -

Yep about a quarter inch of rain here for the event. The Chantal part busted-the remnants went OTS well to our S and E. Never buy into these big weeklong rain events in July -
Picked up 2.3" last evening of welcomed rain. Lightening was very intenses but very little wind and no hail. Power flickered several times but never went completely off...

Low of 69 and 1.79" of rain. The rain wasn't as dramatic as I thought it would be yesterday. Outside of that initial burst, it was actually fairly soaking in nature and spread out over the course of four hours. The ground seemed to eat it up quite well. -

I think he strongly favors a 2013-2014 like impending winter season and is thus basically rip and reading the the 2013 troipical output. I think there's is/going to be a more established cool ENSO pardigm than evident that year. -
Since the current active era started in 1995, the only seasons pretty comparable to the bearishness of his #s are all either El Niño seasons or the cold neutral ENSO season of 2013. (My seasonal contest forecast is calling for 14/9/3 with ACE of 139 fwiw.)

More storms today also and looks pretty unsettled through the weekend as well. -
I logged just under 2" in my unscientific tall shot glass on my deck. Also, the ground was really dry as my sump pump was not running this am. Usually, this amount of precip makes it run for a while.

No kidding! I don't think the grass has slowed down this year at all.

Yeah, 2004 was the last time Lake Placid reached 35° in August. The 2020s is the first decade so far with no August lows in the 30s there. You knew 76-77 was going to be a historic winter for cold when they made it down to 27° in August 76°. -
Only 0.36" here in the last 24 hours, but my monthly total is now 5.09". A double-digit monthly total is definitely on the table- last time I had one of those was August 2020.

I think you guys need to be leery of a late surge in ace from intense home brew and/or GOM systems...it can catch up quickly, though it is tougher without the long-trackers. When a system does encounter a favorable upper level pocket, the entire basin is undisturbed.... -
