It wasn't that bad up here in central Franklin. We had an 1" back in December, 1.5" sleet, and then 5 inches last weekend. So i guess a total of around 7". Better than the last few winters. We definitely missed out on 2 historic opportunities though. Could have been much better, which is what leaves a bit of a bitter taste on this winter thus far. That said, we still have about 5 (maybe 6) weeks left where we can realistically get something, but the extended modes aren't overly exciting at this point. They have overpredicted the collapse of the -NAO/AO all year though, so I haven't completely given up hope.

That is the reason I posted it. It can happen to anyone. And being a victim myself knows too well the years it takes to get things right. Me knowing that even just you letting your daughter and wife know it makes my post worthwhile. As my daughter is a film and media studies major she has a YouTube channel. She has been doing a weekly vlog and intends to spotlight this. She was a lucky one I am sure there are others out there who have not been.

A crap shoot for sure. The wild fluctiuons, over short distances, this winter due to radiational cooling has been rad. Up to 20 now.

Haven’t you been calling for a mild E US starting in January with your 2017 and 2023 analogs? Not that what you’re saying can’t or won’t happen. But why should we believe you now? Mid Feb is looking NN or warmer for many areas. But then you skip all of the way to March and even April based on what exactly?

lol I know.

El nino is a bit overrated IMO

This thread has been quite a read this morning. Even manages to surpass the worst thread ever, the horrific abomination of the lighthearted weak ass wave thread. Yes, I'm still defending it! I've had this person on ignore for many years.

Middle of the uprights scenario right there. Overnight Canadians were friendly to us - certainly looked like it was going to be a flush hit. Euro as depicted was very concerning to me. It drove temps into the 40s clear up to Montreal while I basked in the mid 50s during a driving rain storm. That would spell significant concerns along the Susky for ice jam issues... -
I mean would you really risk your life sharing a room with him. I would bring at least a $150,000 arsenal.

Yeah these soundings would be 20 to 1 easy....you don't want to forecast that unless its within 24h and all guidance agrees....but some alarm bells are going off in my head from some previous inverted trough setups that we had in the late 2000s and early 2010s that gave warning snowfall to localized spots. Anytime you get that very unstable low-level look. North shore right now looks like the best spot (and it might get down into BOS and your area too), but there's a chance of an interior band somewhere too. -

Low of 2° this morning. it seems to be a crapshoot the last couple of weeks on what mornings are gonna be the mornings of good radiational cooling. This morning seemed to be one of them at least in certain areas. -

Some of the models almost have a little meso high over PWM with enhanced low level convergence in that BOS-LWM-MHT zone with a more easterly component off the GOM. -

I met my son at the Nook this morning for some early hoop action. Driving across Prospect Road from 283 to Washington Boro my car fluctuated between 4 and 21. I was surprised to see how low I got last night. -
Think spring could be quite brutal though it depends if it's more northwest vs easterly flow
-
depends which part of DE. I would kill to make that much, lol

At least this time you only missed the white Xmas by like 15 miles instead of 15 blocks

It’s probably 1-2” outside of any localized band. Maybe a 3 spot. -
Flurries just east of KGSO.

I agree. You get models with Near a half inch or more of QPF and that’s a warning for sure. Maybe even only .4” given the soundings. -
The Euro seasonal that was just released has a slightly cooler to average spring and summer in the Northeast. While these long range forecasts are often low skill, they do seem to do better heading into the summer than the winter. Would match the theme of stuck weather patterns in the 2020s as this would be a continuation of the pattern which developed last November. Sometimes developing El Niño summers aren’t as warm like we saw back in 2023.

Lolllll, as if 150K a year is a lot of money. I guess in Delaware it’s an Elon Musk type of salary. This guy is 5 beers short of a 6 pack.
