Septorcher 2026 Discussion - Endless Summer
SouthCoastMA replied to Damage In Tolland's topic in New England
.06" wheeeeee -
There’s moderate CAPE well into Southern New England now and sun just broke out here in Bergen.
-
Sunny and 92/76, HX of 104 and no breeze. YUCK
-
CANSIPS had a cool August for places that ended up +4F at a 0.0 month lead. In the south it had near 0F forecast, and it was +4-6f. Terrible forecast when the first 15 days of the month are already short range modeled.
-
question guys... during strong el niños, does nyc get a lot of snow, a lot of mix events or just mostly rain?
-
84/58 currently. A warm day for sure!
-
-
Pretty oppressive out there today ngl
-
Aug was the 5th consecutive month of +AO. Here's how that historically rolls forward to the cold season
-
DC reached 98 in the first week of October 2019. Several years within the last decade have had 80s well into October, sometimes for an entire week in the latter half. November 2024 also had an 80 degree day.

2026-2027 Record-breaking El Nino

Its crazy to think an area that relatively far north can have an entire snow season with 0.2" or 1.2". -
At least September means the heat can’t possibly stay too long right? Right? This year has been boring weather-wise since February here in comparison to elsewhere in VA. At least it’s wetter in recent weeks!
-
Yeah it's pretty unstable out there. CAPE exceeding 3K too. Lots of sun
-
I just saved a GFS image from their site and it was a 125kb png.
-
lol…I’m just wondering why the model images are so large to begin with. I don’t think I’ve ever saved a non animated model image that was over 1mb. Screenshots can be a little different. Maybe we can revisit storage amounts for each member group in the future, but the current is 41mb for members and 5mb per post. I can increase the 5, but I don’t want people to blow their storage on a few posts. I find it hard to believe wxmodels is producing 3-4mb images for every map of every model. I’m assuming you screenshotted them as jpgs.
-
We all know how this ends.
-
Wretched. Absolutely wretched.
-
I dunno, it's juicy out there. An hour of sun could be all it needs to pop.

Sustained at TS winds of 35 kts gusting to 48 kts at Texas Point right now. Calcasieu Pass also registered gusts to 46 kts recently Edit: Now sustained near 40 kts at Texas Point. Probably a 50-55 kts system being highest velocities are still offshore and we are already close to observing operational intensity on a land observing site
-
We'll see if anything happens. I lean towards it being mostly city south now as I think atmosphere may have been too overworked from earlier rain
