Picked up 0.15” from that blob. Mowed yesterday, walked out this morning and it looked like the lawn ready for another mow.

Twitter folks like it a lot. Pretty surprised that this doesn’t have a PTC designation. Not sure what else it would be for other than to use it for a potential storm developing that will be surely impacting land which needs a sexier name than “97L” to grab media attention.

Like I have been saying, you need to take that "SevereweatherEurpe" or whatever it is with a grain of salt....I picked apart his arguments for a neg NAO season in my July blog, as his stuff is full of half-truths. He doesn't lie, but he cherry picks data and doesn't tell you the whole story. Funny how it doesn't look as favorable for an NAO winter now a month later.

I agree with them that recent winters have been mostly underwhelming, but disagree with the downplaying of last winter. Climate change is real, it’s happening, and I tend to align with the people who are arguing that it’s playing a significant role in the past decade being mostly underwhelming. That being said, I was very happy with last winter. I’m also very skeptical of the idea that last winter was supposed to be historic like 95-96 or 14-15 or 10-11 and CC robbed us. The reason last winter was not quite as good as those winters is it was too dry for record breaking snows, I’d be more inclined to blame CC if it was too warm with multiple benchmark storms being say 35-36 and rain. The long term trend with CC is warm and wet, and last winter was drier than average. I do think there were several winters this past decade where I suspect CC boned my area some, but do not think last winter is a good example of that. If anything, a redux of last winter in say the 1970s climate may have been worse because it may have just been colder and drier rather than snowier. The longwave pattern simply was less favorable than those record breaking winters for east coast cyclogenesis. I’m just glad things came together well enough to give me the best winter since 14-15 in my area.

I'd say they've been here 3 years. It's not quite as bad this year as the first real year but I don't bother killing them anymore. The bats eat them which is maybe why the #'s seem a bit less this year.

Highs will again reach the upper 70s and lower 80s tomorrow. It could turn somewhat warmer on Tuesday with the temperature topping out in the middle 80s. Showers and thundershowers are possible Tuesday night and Wednesday. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was +4.0°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +2.6°C for the week centered around August 19. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +3.87°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +2.43°C. The ongoing strong El Niño, which has reached super El Niño threshold, will continue to strengthen through the summer. The SOI was -1.94 today. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +0.501 today. Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied near 92% probability that New York City will have a cooler than normal August (1991-2020 normal). August will likely finish with a mean temperature near 75.9° (0.2° below normal). Supplemental Information: The projected mean would be 0.7° above the 1981-2010 normal monthly value.

I don’t know, I think Tuesday and then Thursday could produce in some areas. Thursday may be best chance further east? But good trajectory especially on NAM. Good 850 theta e advection in Nam.

That spring and summer climate is generally brutal . Ocean temps prohibit swimming and now it’s a huge drought area

They must have just crossed over the Quinnipiac River/New Haven. Only saw them out your way in Milford, Orange, West Haven prior to seeing them here this summer.

I don't go out of my way to kill them but I just probably mowed over dozens of them cutting the grass. I have battled many invasive insects but the shear number of these fuckers is astounding. I have also been reading they are drastically changing the taste of the local honey.
