  1. Past hour
  2. Southern Maine had powerful winds - was interesting watching (on the tube) the waves blasting water 40 feet high then near -instantly being carried off by the wind. We had little wind this far inland, just 33-35° RA on the same (modest here) NE wind that powered NYC's 20.9" snowicane.
  3. We tried this in the 70s and it was a disaster. Standard time is the way to go. It matches much better with our circadian rhythms. There's no debate
  4. 0.28” for our non-event. 0.57” for October.
  5. again school hours can be adjusted do the first hour of school on remote learning if necessary
  6. I had seven gusts over 20 and two over 30. Guess that probably rules out the neighbor messing with me with a leaf blower...lol
  7. you're right you should be sleeping, everything should be pushed back an hour work, school, etc
  8. I dont see the problem here just start school an hour later
  9. I have to hand out 2 weenies here - one to Ant for posting a DT winter post, and one to DT to add to his Weenie Mountain of weenies located in the DC area. Fun Fact, one can see my house from the top of Weenie Mountain.
  10. yeah no that's the one. 2010... meh, 2013 .. 2010 ...it's all one big blur
  11. I will say that December 1992 was much more exciting than either Irene or Sandy 1) multiple days of heavy rain and high wind 2) many many tide cycles of unprecedented flooding 3) snow on the final day
  12. Cville does better anyway, you can stay put
  13. I hate that name post tropical cyclone.... I'm glad it would be called a hurricane with the updated definitions and we would have maintained hurricane warnings. a hurricane should be a storm with 75 mph winds regardless of its structure.
  14. I'm okay having to snow chase to avoid mixing if its early November. Mid January is a different story...
  15. Meh - 95 mixes. Would have to chase. VD 2 has a ring to it, though...
  16. If only you waited to start the thread by a day you could've had this one
  17. I've been waking up in the dark to go to work for over a month. You get used to it. We get a ton of days in the 40s now and even some 50s on a regular basis in winter. That's not bad at all to be outdoors. How about all the kids that do sports? It would really help a lot and they really do need the light.
  18. I prefer light in the morning. It is easier for me to wake up. I despise leaving for work in the dark. My body is telling me I should be sleeping ( studies showed kids learn better in daylight as well). When the sun goes down earlier, I'm already awake, so it doesn't bother me and the weather isn't enjoyable to be outside anyway.
  19. Yes the cape had gusts over 90 in that one
  20. Not as warm as I thought it would be today. Between the clouds and the damn wind, it was rather cool. For some reason the sun decided to be bashful and only make a short guest appearance here and there...
