Not sure how I feel about this. Like I get it with tornadoes that are on the ground about to destroy a town but blizzards are inherently dangerous so whats a dangerous blizzard?
-
Any nudity ?

Yeah, mainly noise level changes and the models aren't budging even with the early SSW. I think the cold will go to Europe and into the north pacific, reinforcing the pac jet from November through December. After that, things may become slightly more favorable and we may get a window or two where something wintry can happen.

Vaguely related....I was cheering on a family member at the NYC marathon yesterday when I stumbled upon the Central Park weather instrument station. They are really boxed in by thick trees and shrubbery. Sketchy at best.

Next year I will start a mountain bike thread. It’s honestly one of the best ways to stay in shape for ski season. I have a gym membership but I’m finding I go less and less. Bikes, core workout, and leg blasters are all I need to get me ready for skiing. I’ll probably keep riding if the trails are clear(which I think they will). Ride and ski in the same day is always a fun time. Great ride yesterday up the road at Greylock Glen, trails were very leafy but still a lot of fun! .

That mean of the last of the weeks in the EW including the day of that cold shown in that now famous EW control post yesterday did cool off a fair bit over the U.S. vs yesterday with a colder H5 although this actually looks like a -PNA: 2M: H5: -

On a humid night like tonight a house can warm up quick. Especially with all of our electronics, modems, kitchen, fridge/freezer , etc giving off their own heat.
-
Just past peak here Saturday, already some muting and browning today. As others have said, a solid 10-14 days behind normal. The color we had last week was really good though.

Check out the PDO: it rose 0.23 to -1.03. That’s quite a rise for just one day considering the last daily rise at least that high was way back in Feb! It has risen 0.43 just in the last 3 days: -
Could snag a record high min here locally tomorrow 11/3(60) ! Rising temps tonight should help the cause. Should stay in the low-mid 60s all day
-
Yup…same here.

Absolutely, but I think there maybe some deviations given the state of the extra tropical Pacific. -

The seasonal models aren't useful at this point. We are pretty much there, and none of them have depicted anything remarkably different since like August.
