The thermal ridge was north. It's very doubtful that ORD would have topped the current highest of the year, which is 96° (7/14).

The way the storms moved almost due south in Illinois reminded me of the Roanoke F4 day almost exactly. If a remember correctly, wasn't that also expected to be a derecho type event to start the day?

My ac just kicked off. I have it set for 70F. It’s currently 71/65. Works for me, less electric use. -
Chicago dodged what likely would've been its hottest day of the year thanks to today's storms. Rockford and Madison reached the mid-upper 90s under plenty of sun, and even Detroit ended up warmer. Pretty unlucky (or lucky) depending on how you view it, and also a really bizarre set-up.

Same here. Dews have risen as the temps dropped. During peak temps today, dews were in the mid 50s. Currently 72/65 which feels great.

in DC ? that place is a swamp these wag-the-dog days of summer temps were in the 50s here when I got up, don't usually get dew points higher that the temp IMBY, dew point didn't hit 60 until about 11:00 am and it wasn't long after that the ACs were turned on

Today was "exactly normal" in Philadelphia... high 88 and a low of 70. How often does that actually happen? Normal high and low hit on the dot, so to speak.

No idea what you’re going on about. It was certainly COC here today with dews in the 50’s for AEMATT. I don’t think anybody would argue today was in fact a perfect COC day for July standards. And the last 2 weeks have been similar. Low dews, cool nights, bright sun and breezy during the day. Couldn’t draw it up any better and the numbers prove it. Complete opposite of HHH -
Did not expect something on the magnitude of that Menasha area tornado. Reminds me a bit of a slightly less intense Plainfield. Sneaky high-CAPE HP sigtor in what was expected to be a summer wind bag. Likewise also missed a potentially much more catastrophic impact by a day (EAA had ended the day before, in Plainfield school started the day after).

Dews peaked at 65F here today. It was definitely noticeable. Just put on the ACs an hour ago to dry it out inside
