  2. I think most of this from Chris Martz yesterday is at least worthy of discussion/debate. Opinions? The avalanche (and by extension, flood) in Nepal last week was triggered by the collapse of bedrock beneath the Yala Glacier, not the glacier partially collapsing itself. Global warming doesn’t cause bedrock to buckle. It was likely geological in origin caused by seismic activity in recent years and months causing fractures in the rock. The Himalaya are highly active due to plate tectonics moving India into the Asian continent. And the “melting permafrost” argument doesn’t hold much water either because temperatures have generally been below freezing, even during summer, where the glacier sits ~17,000 feet (5,200 meters) up. You aren’t going to see a lot of days get above 0°C (32°F). Not every environmental disaster that happens needs to be blamed on humans. Nature itself is more than capable of causing these types of events. It’s time to get rid of the mentality that mankind is the cause of every bad thing that happens.
  3. .42" from the round of storms after midnight. 1.69" event total so far and 2.55" for the month
  4. Going to be nearly impossible to get anything that tries to spin up in the eastern tropical Atlantic to make it far. Just an incredible ribbon of shear across the MDR. It’s extraordinary how hostile the basin is.
  5. 81 / 71 here more sun (for now)
  6. The next Euro forecast going into winter won’t be released until Saturday.
  7. Certainly going to start feeling more like Fall. Really sucks we could not tap into any of the heat/higher humidity.
  8. Can some one provide me with the link to see this forecast? I was on the site looking around but could not find it.
  9. Despite a brief August respite, the drought remains intact. DCA -6.27” ytd.
  10. looks like an April -NAO retrograde jet coming from the NE too
  11. Sun breaking out-looks to be alot sunnier than forecast today based on satellite
  12. I've asked around since June and first the niño precip change was supposed to be later in the summer, then it was September, then it was October, now it's late October if we're lucky. It just keeps getting can kicked.
  13. thunder has reached the BWI area, so much for the mid 90s that Accuweather had us for today
  14. Yeah. Orange and reds on radar looked to be only like 5 miles away from me, but I fell asleep and I guess the radar fell apart, haha.
  15. Come on…just a little farther. You can do it…
  16. I wonder why our area kills everything that enters it. It's plenty humid. We just suck lol
  17. The late afternoon rain overstabilized everything.
  18. That line looked much more potent when it was in PA... no more reds left in it... really fizzling out.
  19. Today
  20. Sounds nice. But noticing that split going on heading right my way. That is on par.
  21. fell apart coming into the stable airmass, only .22 here as well
  22. Deep thunder has arrived. Downpour incoming.
  23. ehhh not so sure about that. Both days are going to have some showers around and destructive sunshine with cold pool moving in aloft, especially on Sunday.
