CFS has been advertising a below average month...I guess that shouldn't come as a surprise

Yeah, rather dry month too for some of this subforum. On the bright side... the west gets much needed rain. That makes me happy. It's a symptom of the pattern we've been stuck in... if we get rid of the symptom, then the "disease" may be no more.

fwiw, Sep/Oct 1997 turned warm in the northern Plains with some of that spilling over into areas west of Lake Michigan.

CFS kinda has that happening... especially starting in October. Also, it has above average precip for California in all 6 of the coming months.

Would be nice for those out west, but as we all know, the accuracy and reliability of these forecasts usually leaves something to be desired.

Seems sort of unbelievable given the June/July around here, but the grass is starting to turn brown in some areas.

Only a T of precip here the last 14 days...And combine that with constant temps in the mid 80's-low 90's.

Many lawns have turned brown, are dried out, and have widespread/deep soil cracking.

Some respectable towers to the north. Nice feeding flank visible to the west of the main thunderhead. Looks like a train of updrafts feeding in from left to right increasing in height as they get closer to the ongoing storm.

Had a nice views of those from the north....watched them get toppled over by the flow

Rode the Elroy Sparta trail in WI this weekend, everything gets more dead the further north we go. In Elroy the grass was losing luster. In Sparta it's dead dormant crunchy and brown.

Sent from my iPhone

Did you like those tunnels?  Its cold in there...  Its a nice trail but long...i can jump on that not far from my house.  It runs north up the river a little..

Had a nice boomer this morning... recorded .26" so far.  Besides the shorter days, I noticed a few days ago, all the song birds have left. Complete silence from the birds pretty much.  Also, the ferns in the forest and the aspens have started to change color some.

There is a tree along I90 that is already changing color...  I see it every time i drive by.

Sparta is kind of the armpit Wisconsin :) Its not a bad town but they seem to have a lot of crime for such a small population.   Once you head west on the trail its mostly small rivers/marsh...  It would be fun to hid in those tunnels and scare the crap out of people coming through :)

Hot humid and the ragweed is out...my allergies are going nuts...next week with north winds it should let up some.
