pazzo83
looks light straight up San Diego weather for the next 7 days at least (highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s). Damn. Gonna have to water this week. Why is there a frost advisory right outside the core urban areas (DC, Arlington, Alexandria) when the lows are only gonna be in the mid 40s? Gonna have to water this week. Why is there a frost advisory right outside the core urban areas (DC, Arlington, Alexandria) when the lows are only gonna be in the mid 40s? DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGE 1...One more night of frost potential will give way to a warming trend early this week. High pressure remains centered along the Mid Atlantic coast this afternoon but will drift southwestward tonight. Low-level flow will turn westerly allowing for less of a marine influence. At the same time, temperatures aloft will begin rising. The surface gradient is weak enough that forecast soundings indicate sharp decoupling. This will send lows into the 30s again, particularly in outlying and low lying areas. A Frost Advisory has been issued for the piedmont where the growing season remains active, as these areas will likely decouple best. The advisory is based on the forecast lows, although there is some potential with dew points starting in the 40s and the moderating airmass, we may ultimately end up with just a heavy dew even if temperatures drop to the mid 30s. Ridgetops meanwhile will stay in the 40s. Expect river valley fog to develop again, although some guidance suggests the fog may affect more areas than in previous nights.

Soils and streams getting dry again. If we can't at least maintain parity with seasonal precipitation this winter, next spring could be a rough drought.

But with the early November forecast, probably most of us that haven’t had a freeze yet will be later than normal. Right here. I'd say probably by Nov 10th. I've had a few light frost already which is pretty cool. This has been one of the nicest Octobers in a while.
arlwx12
According to the NWS observation map, one place in McLean hit 36 this morning and a few places in Arlington registered 38-39. I think that because LWX anticipates similar conditions overnight, they went ahead and issued a frost advisory.

Rhino16
Very foggy this morning. Surprised the statement didn’t stretch to the coast.
Mrs.J
Been cold enough for me to have soups in the rotation 2x's a week. And the amount of grilled ham/cheese and dill pickle toasties are delightful.

ET losses are pretty minimal right now with the cooler than average temps.

Although several 70's and near 80 this week may start really parching the grass. Having to water all the plants/veggies every other day right now. Same boat, any water that does get into / into the grass is not moving very much. This last 2 weeks has been perfect grass growing weather. The highs in the 60/70s allows growth but not parching, and the lows in the 30/40's allow a nice "rain dew" every morning from the atmosphere to keep the growth going.
