About a half inch.  Good timing since the surface was getting dry again.

We got a good hit this time - unlike several other misses recently where the split was in true form.  Managed to get 0.97" from the 20+ min deluge.  Needed it with the heat inbound the next few days.  The ground was rock hard again.

Despite the uncertainties, it remains likely that high temperatures
will reach the lower to middle 90s for much of the region for much
of the new work week. Latest guidance indicates potential for
temperatures in the upper 90s to near 100 mid week, so long as
it is not disrupted by cloud cover or convection. Depending on
smaller scale details, dew points could end up a little higher
or lower than currently progged which will ultimately affect how
high heat index values get. Values approaching Heat Advisory
criteria (100-104 west of the Blue Ridge, 105-109 east of the
Blue Ridge) are possible.

Temperatures may begin to moderate by next weekend as a cold front
crosses the region.

That exact same paragraph is carried over to this morning's AFD. "Latest guidance"?

NWS and CWG disagree on storm chances today: NWS has a 40% pop for central Fairfax, CWG downplays it: "Can't rule out an isolated evening storm, especially north and northwest of the Beltway." Decided to live dangerously and leave the umbrella at home; let's see how that works out.

Finally got to the beach this weekend and got teased by Jeep week (which I didn’t know was happening, so that was kinda cool). Also went boating and swam in a shallow part of Wight Bay. The bottom felt like a mix of mud, sand, and algae. It was different lol. That part of the bay was warmer than I expected…in a refreshing way.

Looks like a mini heat wave incoming before hints of Fall arrive.
