When you factor in real-feel, nearly a 50 degree drop from the peak of the recent heatwaves. Low temps in the 50s will feel so foreign after this recent stretch! 

I love our climo! Just when you think things are starting to get extreme and unrelenting Mother Nature gives us a nice respite.  
 

Same thing in the heart of winter when the bitter cold stretches are followed by a nice thaw.

This afternoon's line of storms was gusty, like the morning line, but it was weakening as it moved through and didn't last long.  I only got 0.38" this time.  We were not able to recover enough after the first line.

After a little break from the heat this week it's coming back next week.  

Up to 0.22" for the day.

Had two severe warned storms today.  Rain totaled 1.78", with some small hail and gusty winds with each one.   Garden took a bit of a hit but nothing a stake and some rope didn't fix.  Weather the next couple days looks cool, high in the 60's tomorrow with a low in the 40's.  AQI of 101 should improve further tomorrow.

Another 4-5" rain event just north of Des Moines today.  That area has been hammered this summer.  Somewhere in that area has probably had 20+ inches of rain in the past two months.

Looking at another MCS rolling in during the next few hours, ugh!!! Every single storm is between 11pm and 8am (nearly all from 12am-3am) this year, just why? I haven't hit the pillow yet and soon my block will be off it again.

ready for some mid summer lake effect rain

Picked up 0.04"- 0.21" from a quick shwr last night around TH. Cool morning feels good. House temp down to 71 (had been staying in the upper 70's since the heatwave with 80's in the aftrn) with windows open last night, and a cool breeze from the NW. Looking at highs in the mid-upper 70's today.

Maybe a 2-3 day period of 90s. Not really seeing any extended heatwaves though in the extended.

August is almost here. 1 more month of 100 degree potential left.

Mid/upper 50s with winds gusting upwards of 30 mph at times with some lake/terrain enhanced showers. Refreshing after the heat and smoke.  AQI is 12 this afternoon.
