Accumulating ash

How much do you have? Just a fine coating?

EDIT: Take measurements if you can and report in to the MQT office. I'm sure they would love to know how much. They might be getting it too.

My weather station showed just 1200 lux of brightness at 10:30 a.m.; that is insanity! For this part of July and time should be at least 60,000 maybe closer to 80K right now. Not even in 2023 did this degree of dimness befall us. Perfect day to be downstairs or in a room with maximum light brightness. Me and others are feeling sluggish as low light at the start of a day is deleterious to energy and mind.

I'm seeing smoke-enhanced cloud streams on sat over me adding to the darkness, and even blips and clutter on radar in a peculiar way.

Smoke warning mentions temps will be lower than forecast, its dramatically lower here I'm only at 23C and its noon. Originally going to be 30C; we're not getting there unless smoke thins this eve and we get a rally.

New hrrr has the whole LP engulfed in smoke by tonight, and most of Ohio by tomorrow morning.

The AQI values the HRRR is putting out are incredible. Some spots in the UP and northern lower over 1000 tonight.

Multiple monitors from Duluth to Marquette in the 600-800+ range. Can’t remember ever seeing anything above 600.

So far no smoke here, but the highest dewpoints of this heatwave so far.

My RH freakishly stayed around 85% most of the aft til 5:30 pm when it finally began to drop. Yesterday mid-aft it was 45%. The temp very slowly creeped up only to 24C - not surprisingly. Off by 5-6C. Any item with fabric felt damp still as if it never aired out from the morning dew.

Looking at broad radar, I suspect there is a very long teleconnection happening all the way from Dauphin MB to Syracuse NY!!! Its a thick weak band that fragments at times. Never seen anything like that.

Alot of outdoor related business closing tomorrow due to air quality here on the east side of mi.

Also a very light fine ash sprinkled on my truck windshield when I left work at 330 here in the thumb of mi. Never would have had that on the weather of 2026 bingo card.
