Wind gets above 25 and we've got mini dust storms out here. Pretty crazy. Feels like a desert island. I've got grass that took off thats showing brown because its dry. Hopefully some relief overnight. Timing of these systems lately just suck. By the time they get here we're into overnight hours and lose all forcing. Had one setup (Sweetster hail) where storms trained N and S missing us completely. I could watch both lines from my porch as outflow winds blew through making small dustnado's. My well level is about 4ft below normal. I'm really getting fascinated by micro climates and if theres trends in certain small areas and if there are, what could be the causes. My current problem is not uncommon for this area. We shall see the new Erie, IL
Torchageddon
Suppose to get some sun in the aft and high of 21C/73F - fog and grey again this morning. Guidance shows our crepuscular nightmare ends Sunday with a new wx regime.

In the meantime, we've had 5.66" in the past 30 days, completely wiping out our extreme drought. Amazing how different it can be in only 50 miles. Yeah, we got about .75 the 5th and 6th but nothing since. Of course we had some super soakers back in March but my memory doesn't work that far back anymore lol. Hope you're feeling better

weatherbo
Meanwhile, in the UP... rapid melt ongoing. The persistent fog this month has returned and is ushering in much colder weather for the next couple days that will slow the melt before temps warm again next week. 4

Wow, it's like a whole different world up there. Nice vid. Finished with 0.78" rain for the day here. That brings April up to a healthy 6.68", and 7.09" since March 31st.

cyclone77
31 here this morning. Looking like 26-28 tonight. Most of the trees have leafed out, some quite a bit. Not sure how bad this hard freeze will be on them.
weatherbo
19 0vernight here. The high today should stay just below freezing then fall into the mid-teens tonight. Might be the last teens of the season as temps warm to the 50's and low 60's by mid to late week and that would be fine with me.
Brian D
10's/20's again this morning around the area. Breezy day winds with flocks of tweety birds, and leaves blowing around makes it feel like Fall. Had enough chilly wx. Time for the warmth of Spring. Avg right now is 50/30 & rising quickly. weatherbo
Spent the day in Houghton yesterday then drove the spine of the Keweenaw down to Ontonagon County to check out Victoria Dam Falls. Never seen anything quite like it. The falls created their own rain. My bad on the audio, I had my finger over the microphone by mistake.

Not sure how bad this hard freeze will be on them. It will be very nice to kill off some of the skeeters that might have gotten going though. Late spring frost and freezes play a vital role in making sure disease carrying insects don’t get too bad in the summer up here in the Midwest/north. Sure some crops may suffer but overall late spring frosts/freezes serve a purpose and are a net + for the local ecosystem. Insects/diseases and Invasive species in particular are no laughing matter in the southern states, all creeping north with time…. As person who spends a great deal of time in forest preserves, I am personally very thankful for this frost/freeze.
