Thanks I was wondering about this. Hoping that this is our last Freeze up here. Getting a new HVAC system put in tomorrow. After the morning the day looks good for not having any heat or air con for the day.

I think it was Spring '22 that had a few of those hail/snow showers through April here.

Seems reasonable to assume a T.  We have now had three separate graupel/snow showers blow through, all moving NW-SE (and Arlington is SE of us).  Together with @pazzo83's DC observation, seems likely that both Arlington and DC got a T.  But maybe that's just my weenie logic.

I got my April Trace in at 1:52pm this afternoon with a brief light burst of some gruapel/mangled snowflakes.

DCA reported ice pellets - I think we'll get the T.

so DCA is in the mid 50s at the moment (same here too - 55F).  It's going to be close to see if we get to 32F.  If the wind dies down, no chance.  But a steady NW / NNW wind might do it.  The river is pretty warm now though (nearly 70F in the Washington channel, so knock off a few degrees for the water by the airport) - so that will help to keep temps up obviously.

i think DCA will get to 34-35 at the lowest.  Up here we could see 32F.

Dewpoint currently at 18 here, with temp already falling to 51 F.

Radiational cooling is very efficient here with clear skies, low dews, no wind, and cold HP overhead. Nothing resembling UHI here. 29-30 seems doable.

Should I cover my Hydrangeas or can they survive this and still bloom?

I prepared for tomorrow morning by looking at a list of DCA "latest last freezes" through 2023.

The most recent one on April 10 (or later) was 2016.

More on this if DCA does indeed hit freezing tomorrow (it MIGHT not).

We are seeing rain today in Buda, only 56 degrees nice cool weather and more rain developing to the southwest and then hitting us, piling up and padding totals. I've seen 1.3 today, a half inch yesterday now up to nearly 9 inches on the year. Uh-oh I may be catching up to Northern Virginia rain totals lol.

Dewpoint here is 20, air temp 42, winds down to 5 mph.
