Yep we need the rain but these 33-35 deals and rain are the worst. SWFEs in general are the worst. I don’t care we get the one out of 10 to work out here, I’ll never root for them at our latitude, ever.

Next week will feel like a different world until reality comes back of course

may not end up being that cold for that long and if the sun's out this time of year feels warmer than it really is.

Sure does. And in the summer when we really need the rain, we’ll be dry for weeks.

That's why we need all the rain we can get now an moving forward. Will be really bad drought conditions if not

December 5th

Yes. I only got down to 22 F, but some impressive regional lows that morning. ----

Per Don, on December 5 --

Some 6 am temperatures:

Albany: 2° (tied record set in 1886 and tied in 1926 and 1989)
Binghamton: 5° (tied record set in 1971 and tied in 1989)
New York City-LaGuardia Airport: 20° (old record: 21°, 1942)
White Plains: 14° (tied record set in 1966)

Albany has its coldest temperature so early in the season since 1989.

Also, NYC-JFK tied record low at 20 F.

Well, we had the long awaited SSW, wind reversal and SPV split, however, it looks like the stratosphere and troposphere are going to stay completely uncoupled, no downwelling. Total disconnect between the two.

Frans Nucera: “There is no propagation, the blocks are not created by the splitting of the polar vortex but by the troposphere which is not even reactive enough to create them under these conditions”

central park was 9 degrees above the record

100 years ago? to the day?  EDIT - yes says the all time record was 1926.  2025 was 5th coldest all time. Many stations reported all time record lows, including LGA and Sikorsky airport in CT.  JFK tied it's all time record.

The cool down looks like it is going to be as brief as the warmth next week, EPS starts warming the pattern up again by the Equinox (3/20)

With nothing to lock it in, I can see that.   NE forum mets seem to be saying the same as well
