Brian D
A nice stretch of boring, but seasonably mild conditions up coming. Ready for some late winter, early spring storm action. Really need the precip.

michsnowfreak
DTW soared to 45° today with sun. First time over freezing in 3 weeks. Snow depth went from 8" to 5" and should glaciate as temps drop below freezing tonight.

Brian D
Weekly ice report rather robust. Think we hit the peak with the warmer, windy wx on tap tho.
Chinook
The three weeks from Jan 18 to Feb 7 being the 2nd coldest stretch, and #1 coldest for around Cleveland, Saginaw, a couple spots in Michigan, and some of the Mid-Atlantic. The value of 12.1 degrees F at Toledo is comparable to the 2nd and 3rd coldest months here, Feb 78 and Feb 2015. However, comparing a specific 21-day period to one calendar month is a little bit of comparing apples to oranges. In this case, I guess I would be comparing this 21-day value to a full 28-day long month of February, as mentioned.

michsnowfreak Posted yesterday at 01:56 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:56 AM Went to Lake Erie Metropark late this afternoon. Frozen Lake Erie is a beautiful scene. Great Lakes ice coverage peaked at 54.8% this week. After a near average winter in 2024-25, this winter ice coverage is solidly above the historical average around 40%. Superior is now half covered, with Erie nearly 100% covered. The Erie ice is 12-28" thick near the Detroit River. https://bridgemi.com/michigan-environment-watch/ice-grips-great-lakes-with-erie-nearly-fully-covered/
OrdIowPitMsp Posted yesterday at 02:06 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:06 AM Back in Minnesota, the thaw is on. Full sun and mid 40s today was awesome. Sad seeing these old historic farmsteads turn into suburbs, but such is the pace of progress

michsnowfreak
Feb 9th was the last of 27 consecutive days where Detroit saw a low temp of 17° or colder. This was the 4th longest stretch on record (behind only 1918, 1948, 1936).
sbnwx85
Snowpack taking a big hit obviously. Still have 4” in the shade. Bare spots popping up in the sun. 43 feels phenomenal. 60 on Wednesday is gonna have me breaking out the shorts.
DocATL
Increasingly likely that ORD is headed for the lowest snow totals in February since 2017 and would be in the top 10 for lowest snowfall totals. Pretty interesting stuff.
