Brian D
Light snow moving through today. Might even mix with a little frz drz later. Looks like there is already some up N mixed in from a NWS DLH update. Best snow up around Grand Marais with some Lake help. SW flow does them well. michsnowfreak Posted yesterday at 03:10 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:10 AM Blue sky snowblind day to start February. After a low of 2, the high of 27 felt almost mild. It was the first time we hit 20° in 10 days. 2

A clear day today was a great way to start the month before it gets all downhill again tomorrow.
TimChgo9 Posted yesterday at 01:58 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:58 PM Cloudy, cold, but today we get out of the deep freeze with temps a 31 for a high. 10-day forecast showing temps near 50 for a day or so right before Valentine's Day.
Brian D Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM 0.7" of snow imby yesterday. 1"+ inland. Next event is showing some mix come Thurs.
SchaumburgStormer
Frost depth is deep with this cold snap and minimal snow cover. About 14" imby, would make for some serious flooding/ice jam issues down the road.

Especially in the Ohio Valley where there's a higher chance of them being in a rainy warm sector and there's a recent history of significant heavy rain in February. There's a general 3-9 inch snowpack over the region with deep frost and frozen streams. It doesn't even take that much rain or snow on the ground to have a major flood. Nebraska in 19 only had a few inches of snow and like and inch of rain. The region has had bad experiences with that type of flood before, notably in 1913 and 1936. Even up here anything like the March 19 warm sector and we have problems as well.
cyclone77
Picked up more snow early this morning than the whole month of January produced lol. Picked up 1.8" from a narrow heavy band of snow. Little or now snow accumulation was in the forecast until a late evening last sec update.

I got 1.5 inches of 25:1 fluff. Sadly, this is my biggest snow event since December 13th.
michsnowfreak
Got 1.4" of fluff here yesterday. Season to date snowfall is 36.3" imby and 35.3" at DTW. Deep winter continues.
