Just woke up and measured around 5 in the grass and a little over 4 on the walkway. Temp is 14! Let that sink in 14 with light borderline moderate at times snow. It’s not often at all you’ll get these conditions in Tennessee. We need to enjoy this one yall! This one is a top 5 for sure on the cold side.

I went to college in Minnesota and this reminds me of a Minnesota snow - dry, light powder that almost sparkles in the light

It’s going to be very hard to get a measurement for this snow. I think I’m at around 1.5” but in some places it’s double that and others are nearly swept bare by the wind. Almost nothing on roofs. 18 degrees.

Just woke up. Woke up at 4 and it was light snow. Roads were white but very little in yard. Woke up 15 minutes ago and all is white. I'd say a solid 1 1/2", possibly 2". Measured right at 2" on the Jeep hood. I was surprised I could pack a snowball. I expected it to be all powder. Either way, I feel good about it. It's peanuts compared to most people, but we are Chattanooga area, so I'd consider anything a win.

Approximately 2" here. May have had 3 total, but it has been so light all night, accums. have probably compacted some.

I have an inch in East Brainerd. Found a couple less windy spots to measure. As usual a bit less than Ooltewah and Apison, but I'm happy with the result.

I'd be happier if some of y'all would use the Apison Rd improvement by Southern instead of EB Rd.

Multi-level clouds will soon depart the Chattanooga metro in a couple hours, and snow will wind down to flurries.

Signal Mountain is a different story. As usual it'll benefit from the moist low level sounding. Snow showers all day!

More outside my local Chatty area in the Forecast thread later. Coffee time!

Here in Oak Ridge it appears we've got about 2 inches or so and still snowing and 22 degrees. I'll do an official measure later. It's a Winter Wonderland and beautiful! ❄️

Noticed something else that I've heard about, but never seen here, and that is the waves of subsidence and lift associated with a strong upper low. Just like the ocean, if you have a wave, you have a peak and a trough. Same thing here (I think) seen in the cold cloud tops.

Also John has the best lift right now, because why not, lol

Hard to tell due to the wind but I’d guess 2.5-3” here in Farragut. Rates never really got high nor did they ever get to become high ratio feathers like in used to seeing in the plains. This one thus far is more like an intense long duration fog storm.

Blowing snow in Lenoir City and 15 degrees...incredible and beautiful.

Between 3-4 inches; its hard to find an exact measure due to the snow being so powdery and blowing around.

Here at my home, we had much the same.  The only difference was at around 2 o'clock last night we had a finger of snow that came through with huge thick flakes. It lasted for over an hour and laid down around an inch and a half. It was the largest flakes I have seen since my childhood, We have around 4 inches here.

A few neighborhood kids will be happy shortly. The road is perfect for slowly pulling kids on a tube. SxS never slid.

It's been satisfying to watch the swva dry slot fill in. I was ready for it fizzle down. Visibility is back down to a half mile. The shift seemed to start as the axis of precipitation changed from west to southwest. On the meso it appears as spotted cold tops but the gaps are filled. Could the tilt of the ULL or increased proximity be the cause?

Should be locked in for at least another hour of decent rates. Maybe more.

Moderate snow, vis around 1/2 mile. 6.5 to 7 inches.  It's gotten hard to measure due to wind.
