eduggs
I love these kinds of snow events that ELI, ECT, EMA, and RI are seeing this morning. High-end mesoscale/nowcast events that are highly localized and you don't know exactly what to expect. Cold and powdery snow too! Just one event like that would go a long way to easing the pain of the only two decent wintry events of the winter shifting warmer in the mid-level over the last 48 hours such that half the precipitation fell as IP/ZR. I still haven't recovered from those. It would really only have taken one plowable snow event on top of the glacier to do the trick I think. But nothing has really worked out favorable since the 3 hour snow event on Jan 17.

We had a 10"-18" storm area wide just two weeks ago, it's not that bad. This has been the best winter in 5 years. Where I am we had a dusting from many hours of pixie dust. It mostly sublimated on contact. Whatever fell is long gone.

coastalplainsnowman
This backbuilding / snow rotating in from the NE, totals of half a foot beyond what was forecast - I don't recall the possibility even being discussed for our any part of our area, and usually every possibility is discussed. Was it always expected, but just expected to occur further east?

This looked to be one for a few days that could work out and models did a good job focusing on the places that would do well. Ratios are also very high in the places that could get good snow growth in the banding some people in E CT/parts of MA will get 12”. Boston will probably make it to 6”. Too bad it couldn’t get together a little sooner and blast more of us. 1

By Wed hopefully we’ll have a better idea. If we’re going to a -PNA we always risk overrunning setups and warming us up at our latitude too much. Maybe the -NAO can help redevelop the storm in time for us.
