Unless it gets cut some more. They usually don't like to make big jumps all at once.

This is always a possibility. Nobody knows anything concrete now. Modeling sucked. It snowed in many place way before it was supposed to. I feel like forecasting has been a grasp and that mets are just following suit. One says it, they all say it. Dry slot is the new buzzword. Like hanging chad back in the day.

HRRR still looks good for north GA.  Hoping it’s right since the start time seems to be pushed back some.

I hope so too. I’m getting a little nervous considering the start time has moved back like 3-4 hours and by that point we’d only be looking at 3-4 hours total of snow. Heavier rates could be more widespread due to temps, but this could easily end up being on the lower end with 1-2” out to Athens. Still remaining positive though

Given the setup, I don't think this is out of the realm of possibility....banding with theta-e advection is no joke- especially given how deep the cold pool is under the ULL

Think of it (in terms of physics) like turning a moisture filled (semi-) linear tube into a funnel from upper levels to lower, then forcing all of the moisture out of the full funnel rapidly via mechanical means...you don't get a setup like this very often in these parts....negative tilt amplifies this effect substantially

Not our storm Raleigh folks. Congrats upstate, foothills, triad, SW Va, charlotte, Columbia, coastal and eastern folks!

Yep I am likely going to be exiting the board for some time if this truly busts as it is usually many years between big opportunities.

Yeah I think Raleigh folks have to hope the coastal throws them some bones.  Not looking too good there.

We’re cooked. Gonna keep negativity down, Charlotte upstate and foothills are going to get smoked, areas that needed it the worst

Starting to think we will struggle to get that.

I definitely feel that! If radar is correct though we’ll see heavy banding between 1-3. Running out of time though and if it keeps getting pushed back we could end up with a dusting at most… idk we’ll see.

Somebody help me with where we are currently (or Is there another thread for that?) if you don’t mind.

im looking at the radar and I see some areas of snow near the coast moving northward, and then I see big areas of snow to the west moving northward, and then there’s a wide swath of nothing from Florence to Raleigh (with nothing appearing to be on the way).

Havjng said that, every time I check the forecast for Florence the snow totals are increasing, with calls for Heavy Snow.

is it just early?

Elbert County

Oh man you’re gonna be fine! I’m still thinking 4-5” for your area. Seems like it’s just moving in later than they forecasted, but that’s better for heavier snow and higher totals because it will be colder than if it started now. More of a daytime snow for us then a morning snow
