  1. regarding this Thursday event, obviously lower elevation in georgia seem to be only a cold rain now, but curious if a short drive up ga 400 to suches (elevation 3000-3500) would give me a shot at seeing a nice snow? i dont have access to reading the thermal profiles, so not sure if elevation would help out in north ga or they would just see a cold rain as well?
  2. anyone have access to posting the HRRR for tomorrow morning?
  3. Think I'm going to head north from atlanta towads Dahlonega/Helen area and see some decent snow in the morning....
  4. do you guys expect any snowfall in Highlands, NC? considering driving there from ATL tomorrow....
  5. do youll think the highlands/cashiers area (3500 feet) will see some snow out of this? debating on driving up there for the night from atl....need to decide soon thanks
  6. ya the temp in sandy springs is down to 19 with steady light snow, id say we are at 3/4 of an inch so far. thought about going to sleep for a bit but there are some strong returns at the ga/al border on 1-20 headed right for ATL, gotta stay up for that. enjoy your snow, should be picking up soon
  7. very cool, been snowing in sandy springs for past 2 hours non stop, radar keeps looking better and better, stronger returns headed this way in a few minutes. think we have another 4-5 hours of snow yet to go
  8. yep, auburn getting pummeled right now. nice to see the new EURO give all of ATL around 2 inches with south side approaching 3 in spots
  9. does anyone know if the band going through birmingham is supposed to hold together as it moves east? it looks pretty hefty and actually expanding as of now
  10. i was thinking same thing, hard to go to bed now with radar looking good, the bright news is nothing will be happening in atlanta tomorrow, so it will be a work from home (bed) day
  11. nope, very rare, and at night, so even though its relatively light, it will add up rather quick. it is quite windy out so hard to tell the intensity. im right on the northside of the perimeter in sandy springs, we should get an inch at least, but southside of town by airport or even further south will get more than us. unusual to say the least
  12. light snow has started back up in ATL. granted it is light at the moment (heavier returns on the way), its night time & its 23 degrees outside so it will stick to everything.
  13. sure! he is the best meteorologist i know. You can follow him on fbook at wxsouth I will add. ATL looks good to me, but south of town looks even better, I think somewhere in a lagrange to columbus to mcdonough to conyers region could push 3 inches. That stuff moving through montgomery right now has to be laying it down pretty well.
  14. not sure what radar you are looking at but to me ATL looks to be a great spot. the radar is blossoming west and southwest of ATL over the past hours and should continue to do so overnight. in fact, i think this over performs in the city and most places get closer to 2 inches than 1 inch. check out roberts post on fbook discussing sw to ne flow of the precip expanding rapidly over the next few hours.....
  15. Birmingham getting pummeled right now. It will work it’s way through ATL as well.
