weatherpruf
kinda meh over here; was ripping very early but rather light for the last 45 mins or so. gonna need to pick up the pace considerably to make it to 6. most mets calling for 8-12 here, we'll see. bitter cold out; managed to get my walk in the mall; just me, the guard, the cleaners, a couple cops hanging out under the parking deck, and a few homeless taking shelter in the mall, with no one giving them any grief on a day like this. i'd say about 3 and change otg so far; roads are empty so easy drive and not too bad at all. visibility was excellent. Dark Star
Maybe 2" in Garwood, 12 degrees and snowing moderately. "Pinging" against my nylon shell parka. the township has plowed twice, already. I understand the desire to keep roads open, but isn't there a balance? I thought everything cost money...

Everything does cost money but the employees are already in work and getting paid, regardless if they're are plowing or just sitting in their trucks idling. Volcanic Winter
This is beautiful so far. I’m already closing in on the lower 5 inch threshold Mt Holly reduced me to before bumping me back to 6-10. Unless the snow shuts off relatively soon, I’d say 8-10 is looking likely. 20f. And that’s before any sleet. I’m inland enough from the coast (well west of Pkway), hoping to avoid the early rain switch they’ve progged for the barrier islands / immediate coast. We’ll see. Already this has been great, regardless of where it goes. Pleasantly surprised, the thump is thumping. The air mass was our savior, and should really safeguard the city IMHO. Hoping for bigger and totals for them.

Would have been devastating if the 0.5" liquid fell as all ZR. It was kind of a crap shoot as to whether the cold surface air would be dense enough to refreeze the raindrops. In the areas where not, it was clear this would be a devastating event in places.

I think there's a freezing rain zone later just a little bit inland in NJ, hard for me to see how this kind of cold surface air gets dislodged. Still in the mid teens there.
