As a newly "former Virginian"...I feel your pain and jealousy, man. Experienced a $hit ton of rug pulls up there in the DMV over the past 30 years. And then, over the past decade or so...I just started to not let the wx determine my mood.    It's hard to be a snow lover (hell, wisher) and live in the DMV region. I didn't want any snow down here on the coast...but for those of you further inland who did, I was hoping it would happen for y'all.

Currently 43/36 here in southern MB. Ceiling was VERY low early afternoon, though didn't observe or feel any drizzle at that time. Visibility has improved considerably over the past hour.

Really thinking this will not be ZR for anywhere in north central NC.  Rates have indicated sleet thus far and not much has changed.  We are about to get pounded.  I have a new board set up so hopefully I can get a good measurement from it.

Started the heavy sleet at 3:15pm and looks like light rain is mixing in now.Temp rose from 25 to 28.

It is 33 degrees with rain at my son's house in Clemson. He can see puddles and water melting under the ice on his driveway. That is a good sign that the worst might be over for his location.

Went from rain, to sleet, to absolutely pissing sleet with snow, back to just ripping sleet.  Doesn't make any since at all.  Spartanburg, SC on 85

Still just 19 degrees in Winston-Salem. Virtually no ice accretion on trees at this time. 
 

edit: 20 degrees now.

Heavy rain now… I would guess a lot of this is not freezing until it gets to the ground due to the heavy rates?
