Hopefully New York City can sneak in 4 inches of snow by the end of the month although that is looking increasingly unlikely especially with the big warm-up coming after the 20th. Statistics don’t lie and Decembers that usually feature at least 4 inches of snow in New York City have a high chance of producing average or above average snowfall for the rest of the season. Central Parks measuring has been consistently terrible over the past few years even more so then it had been in the past so I wouldn’t be surprised if they barely record an inch from the snow that is coming on Sunday. LVblizzard Posted yesterday at 03:56 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:56 AM LOL GFS…it’s crazy how much it just gets utterly lost in the 2-5 day range. Happens with every single storm it seems like.

brooklynwx99 Posted yesterday at 04:16 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:16 AM the GFS just has to be tossed assuming the ECMWF holds steady. it is awful with these anafront type systems and is almost always too progressive with them we’re still on track for plowable snowfall in the metro IMO

eduggs Posted yesterday at 05:01 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:01 AM Right now the best shot at moderate snow accumulations based on a model consensus would be I-95 east in CNJ and maybe into Long Island.

My point was that they could've issued a 72-hour map (that's as far out as they issue them, which I'm fine with) at 18Z that went through 18Z Sunday, which is past the end of the storm, but they waited until 0Z to do so. Plus, I think issuing a map through only 12Z Sunday, without clearly noting that snow wasn't over yet is more than a little misleading and something they shouldn't do, IMO.
