To be or not to be a rainer… short range says 3-6” of concrete is coming. NWS says get out your rain boots lol. I think this is going to end up being yet another surprise around here.

It being at night and featuring some heavy rates is favorable.  Also having preexisting snow to stick to.  It looks to be incredibly wet if it doesn’t go to rain.

What limited research I've done on those winters shows they started with northwest flows and clippers laying down a good snowpack before bigger storms came in from the southwest. Would be epic to cash in on the same this season.

I remember 2013-2014 having some rain, but there was persistent cold between systems.  The thaws were mostly brief warm sectors, no major Pacific intrusions.  The real polar vortex came later.

The good old front-end thumper for SMI. Should stay all snow and avoid dreaded melting for Harrison. Clipper 1 was a solid 2" and on the high end of forecast for a change. Snowpack was quite withered after 9 days with warm ground eating from beneath. Great to be back. See if this one can sneak those top shelf rates up here too.

At 8:30 it was raining in Holland and transitioned to snow around Zeeland with white roads by the time I got to Hudsonville.

Over performing right now. Massive flakes and already 2+”. Rain may be mixing in occasionally but it’s a vast majority snow

Waiting on a batch of 30+ dbz returns to hit here.  Hoping it stays all snow.  GRR radar kinda sucks.  Shows artificial holes due to ground clutter.

2.5” so far and dumping here east of GR.  The bright band is getting close though.  I’m assuming the 40 dbz stuff off to the SW is melting wet flakes.

It’s nice I can tell it’s snowing hard from my bed because it amplifies the local light pollution so much.  It’s so bright you’d think it’s very early morning, but nope.

University delayed start until 11am, doesn't really seem like 4" would warrant that, but I guess so

What, lmao. It took an act of god to delay or close CMU when I was there back in the 2000s.

Totals mostly in the 4-6” range, even to our north. I think this is mostly because ratios were around 9:1 according to MPX. If we were in the 12:1 or 15:1 range we would have seen some of those higher totals verify. I think there ended up being a much bigger lull after that initial wave than the models showed.
