Yeah, add 10 days of climo to yesterday's event and it looks a lot different from a sensible wx standpoint...that 1C mattered a lot for a good chunk of the storm. 

The pattern looks a bit colder anyway even if you adjust for climo. Not a good pattern to try and get a phased nuke....but these northern stream impulses can sometimes produce pretty nicely for us if we can get one of them to line up. 

TBH, that isn't the ideal route to a high-end month east of ORH in December, anyway.

I wish the program I was in had a winter forecasting class, that would be epic. They had a severe weather forecasting class so not sure why no winter weather. Whenever I look outside and see snow on the ground or snowing I feel all wintry and that's when I enjoy the cold. Makes me want to winter and do more winter forecasting.

Nah...they'd hit at a tone of climate for modulation and correction aspects, a lot of which are no longer valid because ... heh, the climate (isn't) changing -

All the 12z models have it so far.. looks like 1 to 2 if we get anything.. but we have also seen them before up or disappear

One of the courses I have to do is a climate change course (well I think its an elective but I'm going to take it). Looking forward to that. Haven't read the info on it yet though so not exactly sure what would be covered.

You can see the col at H92 moving eastward south of LI and the inv trof moving W to E through the region. Of course that’s lalaland for these things.
