dendrite
The heat definitely looks tempered for up here compared to some previous runs. Idk…maybe it averages a little AN given climo descending, but it looks like more of what we’ve had. I don’t think I’d call 75-80 a torch when we’ve been doing 90° in late September recently.

That’s a furnace It feels like the temps are just staying the same, while climo descends. But not like something that people will find all that noticeable given the last few weeks of similar temps. 1

No one is saying 85-90 Yeah ok. “Furnace” it is, but we’ve moved past the time of year when that word makes people go “wow it’s hot outside.” It now means “damn it’s nice outside.” The departures will be AN. 4 1

Snowedin
Anyone have any thoughts on when this pattern of pure stagnation finally breaks and the parade of deepening lows from the south and or west begins to take shape that typically defines the fall season? I’m thinking we see a similar repeat of last year but it’s just a hunch.

Every year, like clockwork Indian summer reels it’s pretty head around that time, usually ahead of a powerful coastal storm with breezy sw winds. Mid-Rocktober is the big change. Hopefully some early snows October 13-16th ! One of my best/fav events was an Oct. 15th? event in 2009, 2-3" accumulations in a very tiny portion of SNH above 400' Hudson/Windham.

Yeah honestly it could go wildly either way in the temp department. But one thing is almost certain around that time is the trend of increasingly powerful storms. I remember losing power for a week during the oct 2021 blowdown and our neighborhood looked like a war zone the next morning. That was no fun man, let me tell ya!

I was scared witless that night..every few minutes, a fresh tree came down and you never knew where the next one was gonna land. The gusts had to be legitimately over 100 at its peak. It was like being in the middle of a screaming washing machine for many hours. And then there was the long cleanup which took weeks. Trust me torchy, it’s no good!
