Thankfully the heat index won't be as high as yesterday since dewpoints will be dropping to the mid 60s this afternoon. I do hope we can hit all time high temps for June though. I would think Newark would be able to make it to 103 today to tie the record.

Dewpoints have been holding in the low 70s since last night here, it would be nice to see a bit of a drop

Yeah, this is how Mineola and Wantagh got to 108° and 107° back in July 2010. Downslope flow off the moraine which created compressional warming just on the Inland side of the sea breeze front. The zone this afternoon where the downslope meets the sea breeze will probably go 102° to 104° with maybe a 105° max in the warmest spots from Queens and Brooklyn into Nassau.

I'm on the south shore but not a good match for Wantagh, I'm 5-10 hotter than them. Why did they put it out there instead of in Valley Stream?

97 at JFK now Don

On their official on the 51s updates it says 96 but the rapid refresh was showing 97. It's something with the way they round the numbers I think.

both have rivers to their best

The station at LGA is like 100 feet from the water with literally nothing blocking the wind.

Central Park is nothing like that.

As luck would have it, a bus passed in front of the camera at the Corona micronet site which helped narrow down the location.
