I know a bunch of people have solar. Interesting article from WBUR Boston on how much behind the meter solar reduced the grid demand during the heatwave.

I produced more than my home and central air used Mon-Weds.  I was also exporting a ton back to the grid to my neighbors on those days as well.

I’ve got a lot of very tiny red insects or maybe larvae the size of a pinhead stuck to the leaves of my maple trees. Any thoughts of what they are? Can post a photo later if needed. Looked via google and there were many different answers, and not sure what geographic areas the answers were coming from…

Lantern Flies? If they are, destroy them.

Saw some last night, couldn't tell from what town, should be more tonight. I live on top of a hill so I can see them from all directions.

If you were looking SSW from York probably Portsmouth...between 9:15-9:45 or so. Actually may be the last time they have them here due to budget cuts. Would need a private donor to pay for it.

Not in York yet, a couple more weeks, still in Mass on the CT border so I see CT fireworks too.

Who's fireworks debris ended up in your yard?

House across from my next door neighbor. There wasn’t a lot, but I’m sure the radius around him from there to here is a mess.

When my next door neighbor on the other side set them off in 2020 I picked up about 100pcs of various debris over 3hrs on my property on the lawn and woods.

WE blew some off last night at my friends but there was no debris in anyone's yard other than his which we cleaned up.

Treehouse put on quite a display of fireworks last night. Every time we thought it was the finale they kept on going.

Barn update. Should be done by summer's end. I recommend checking for paper wasp nests before sticking your hands up underneath trim, especially when you are at the very end of a 32' extension ladder. Only the second time I've ever been stung, and I can confirm that it still hurts like a m'fer.

I ripped out a rotted window sill once that had a yellow jacket nest in it. I was like 25ft up on a ladder and took a half dozen stings to my face. My face swelled up so much I could barely see for a day or 2.

I was 15 feet up painting a shutter one day and two bats flew out, I almost fell off the ladder. No stings just a heart attack.

Awful situation down in central Texas.

This is gonna end up being the deadliest non-tropical system flood in the US in over 50 years and one of the worst ever in this country’s history.

Not quite 50 but close enough - 7/31/76 was the date of the Big Thompson River (CO) flash flood that took 144 lives plus a handful of others never found.  One hopes that disaster remains at the top (maybe "worst" more appropriate).

Many years ago I knew a retired couple who were camping out there during that flood. They lost everything they had and had they not gone into town for dinner that evening they may not have lived to tell the tale.

I must have missed that one on the list. I was thinking we were going back to the 1972 Black Hills flood that claimed over 240 lives.

The fact that this has happened in 2025 with all the meteorological advancement since the 1970’s is truly astounding and a reason why I think it’ll be one of worst in history
