WxKnurd
Right at an inch for a storm total since we picked up another 1/2” or so after it started up again yesterday evening (unless something else falls and accumulates today). We just never got flakes of any size here, just heavy dandruff stuff.

Hvward
2.5” at my house in Alexander, still snowing pretty hard. That makes 10” total for me this season. .

Hopefully, this upcoming pattern produces.
WxKnurd
Man, Weaverville looks like a solid 3-4” here where I’m getting gas. Roads are a mess. In Haywood, Junaluska to Canton had the most on the 74 corridor and what looked like 2-3”. Going up Sam’s Gap will be interesting.
Buckethead
Well, I have 16° and 8" on my board with 2-3'+ drifts. I really wonder how much fell, but like Joe said there's no telling. And it's still coming down at a good rate. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk 8
AirNelson39
Nothing coming down in NW Catawba here in Hickory, despite the radar returns indicating otherwise. The direction of this flow is different than normal, though, which may explain the returns that are breaking containment. It's almost due north, just a few degrees west of that.Sent from my moto e5 supra using TapatalkSaw a few flurries under those radar returns last night after 10pm here in SE Caldwell County. Was hoping for more given the returns. Looks like we may have another shot at some more flurries today with more returns breaking containment.

SnoJoe
Just took a wonderful snow hike and found some semi-protected areas with 8 inch totals so that's what I'm going with. Also found some 3 and 4 foot drifts. Snow was almost chest high in a creek bed near my house where the wind filled it up. Still light snow and cold. A great winter day!

A great winter day!I'm going to head up and see how much is up on top of Big Bald this afternoon. It's 1100' higher than my house. I'm betting there are some monster drifts up there. And I need to check how much is on my patio, it's protected by my house and a hillside. It's just a booger to get down the rock steps in deep snow. My board is 100% unprotected...perhaps I should move it. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
snowbird1230
Unimpressive snow amounts on the Cherohala Skyway BUT as always, very impressive beauty..This is home. 8" of powder best I could tell..the flow needed to be a tick more westerly for the Skyway to cash in. Puts us at 57" on the year. 12
WxKnurd
Jealous of you guys in the favored NWFS areas, from Weaverville to Erwin, TN you could tell drifts were deep and it was a solid event. 2-4” up here in Southern WV, maybe 4-6” north of Tazwell, VA on my way to where I’m working.

calculus1
@snowbird1230, do you actually live right off the Skyway? How do you get access to the road? I assumed it would be closed under these conditions. Your pictures are amazing, though, and I am thankful you do have access to show us these beautiful shots. Thanks so much!
calculus1
Very, very nice pics too, @Met1985. Interesting to see the pictures while the clouds are still very low, in contrast to @snowbird1230's photos with the clear blue sky. Each set is beautiful in its own right.
snowbird1230
Skyway entrance is several miles from my home..The Cherohala Skyway is NC 143W that runs from Robbinsville NC to Tellico TN..It is a state maintained road. The NCDOT does not close roads due to weather. The weather may close the roads due to floods, landslides, etc but state government will not. It's totally different than National Park roads which close due to weather. Those roads are not for commerce traffic. State roads are. 1

Buckethead
The snow finally stopped about 10 minutes ago. I have 9.75" on my board but I think this was a better flow event than 12/1 even though I had slightly more on the board. The drifts testify that we got more, but who knows. Maggie Ace
It's going to be a very chilly night with those wind chills near or below zero. Tyler Penland
Headed to Greyson Highlands tomorrow.Never been up there in the snow so it should be a fun trip. Not sure which way we're going in but probably from Elk Gardens.

Hey@MotoWeatherman how much did Beech get? Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk I feel comfortable saying 6-8 inches. At my location the winds really whip and blow the snow so it makes it difficult to find a good spot to get a solid measurement. Lol. Went to bed with about 2-3 so overnight was a big plus. Maybe picked up another inch during the daylight hours. Skied sugar mtn this after and you would never had know it snow up top as it was a solid sheet of ice with 40+mph winds. The lower half of the mountain was decent though.
